I know change is hard to accept.
I am loving Windows 10 on my desktop, It;s crisp, smooth and fast.
Just need to learn a few things. But will play with it to find all new features.
Overall I am very impressed.
Never liked Windows 8.0 -

:rotfl: yup
nice find on the telemetry, I'd already turned off wifi sense and most of the privacy options....off for a root around
I'm still not on 10 proper.
I refuse to use a MS account to login and just use local account, I'm pretty sure that in this instance in Technical Preview the wifi sense was disabled and greyed out.
Is it now enabled in all types of accounts by default?
Yeah, whatever happened to DCM?
(Miserable get).Move along, nothing to see.0 -

yes, wifi sense is enabled by default. I do not have a ms account, when I updated I wasn't asked to create one either......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

When given the stark choice of privacy over convenience, generally, convenience will win.
They are doing what Google/Android and IOS have been doing for years.
I agree that there needs to be more transparency and that they don't publicise everything for people to make that choice. However, informing people on here and other forums helps them make that informed choice. There is no need for the panic.
In a generation of Facebook users, the privacy issue is not always at the head of the agenda.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

We know you are a Linux freak, so expect some of the paranoid sensationalism,
but, it's getting a bit over the top now.

When it's stealing your bandwidth for the benefit of Microsoft's server bill without telling you that's a different story. Not to mention making connections to multiple computers that you haven't authorisedScience isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
You can turn off the sharing of updates....
To enable informed choices.......Windows 10 and Privacy.
As I said, convenience will win out.....People will use Siri, OK google and Cortana regardless. Those from an older generation will want the privacy and they need to know how to make that choice.
For what it's worth, I think some things will change once the EU catch up and force them to change.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

Windows 10 is a spectacular Operating system.
Word of caution, do not run any cleaners after the install. I ran Advanced System Care after one installation & it wrecked my netbook.
To give some background info I have 3 Msi netbooks. Netbook 1 has been gradually installing the updates over 12 months to the latest build 10240.
Netbook 2 came with a Win 7 starter edition which I upgraded to Home edition using some product keys off the internet. This machine I was trying to upgrade to Win 10 which I successfully did using a Win 10 ISO. However I then had a stroke of genius & ran the cleaner immediately afterwards & made the machine inoperable. I lost the other OS's on the hard drive which included a couple of versions of Linux.
Luckily I had an ISO of build 10074 which I activated with a key from the MS site. I then had to edit the registry in order to get the latest build to download. It is not surprising that MS have withdrawn the ISO builds as I can put Win 10 on any machine without having Win 7 or Win 8. If you use torrents you could probably download an earlier build.
Netbook 3 I am leaving to update normally after having reserved my upgrade. I do not want to lose any more applications, etc.
When I get the time I might just check that Linux has gone or might just be lurking.
It will mean writing the GRUB menu which is not my favourite idea of a good time.
Just in case anyone asks, no windows would not repair. I had trouble with getting activation numbers to be accepted. If you have lost your product key info I would recommend the Belarc Advisor program. Those product key labels get worn & unreadable.0 -

At the moment it's a bit of a PITA to kill the torrent style updates, I'm knocking up quick batch file to automate it. I find the idea of connections to multiple untrusted computers somewhat uncomfortable and a very attractive target for hackers.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -

- Go to Start, then Settings > Update & security > Windows Update , and then select Advanced options.
- On the Advanced options page, select Choose how updates are delivered, and then use the toggle to turn Delivery Optimization off. When turned off, you'll still get updates and apps from Windows Update and from the Windows Store.
