  • Nothing here either.

Just wondered if there is a way that the forum could incorporate a flag to indicate how many times a particular link (where the benefit is limited in number) has been clicked on? For example, if the above link has been clicked on 2,000 times it is unlikely that there will be any free software left!
  • free AVG for good.

This is the virus sw I use on my windows machine.
I've been using it for abut two years and, statistically, is as good as Kapersky.

I think this may have been here before, so apologies if this is a granny / egg situation.

Trend is an excellent antivirus been using it for years it also lets you check to see if anyone is connected to your wireless network, unfortunately mine is paid for and has over another 12 months to run otherwise I'd definately be signing up
  • Has anyone received their free copy yet?

  • Trend Micro has said free copies should hopefully sent within the next 24 hours, if not by the end of the week.

    Little word of warning here.

If you install TM but later decide you don't want it the uninstall process could be a nightmare. TM always used to be troublesome to uninstall but perhaps the procedure has been made easier.

    Just something to think about.

Actually I'd dispute that... unlike the other big AV vendors software TM AV is very easy to uninstal. So long as you go to start, programs, Trend Micro version xyz and choose uninstall it will uninstall.
If you try to remove it by using the add/remove software then yes it might not remove everything. Again this is easy to fix by using the uninstall tool freely available on the support website or if you contact support they will happily e-mail it to you.

This has been the case for the past 3 years (during which time I worked in support for this software) and I expect it will be the case for the new version (2008) coming up in a few months. I haven't actually seen it yet but I doubt this is something they would change (although if you wanna check it out you can always join their Beta program :) )

Bad reviews among other virus scanners. AVG Free comes out on top of this one. Just because the AV is being given away free doesn't mean you should install it. AV is a piece of software that you want quality regardless of whether it's a paid product or free.
