Hope you didn't watch BBC Watchdog this week though...
Have a look on the Watchdog website to see what they said about Harveys this week.
Oops my mistake. It was ScS not Harveys. We went into about 20 shops that day and they all blended into one...
apols for any confusion.0 -
Just a thought. Worked in Burtons over Xmas last year and they showed us a video - that applies to all Arcadia stores. If you leave a store and the security tag has been left on an item - and you manage to get home without setting the alarms off (it does happen!!) you can ask to claim back your petrol and parking for having to go back into town to get it removed.
When I worked there we had loads of people coming back as the security tag had been left on - the alarm at the door was broken!!!!!0 -
zorber wrote:If agreed a repair should happen they normally have 2 weeks to effect a repair before you can start persuing other courses of action, this can include a brand new replacement, though it is stated a reconditioned model can be given where a repair can not be effected.
This also happened to us a couple of years ago. A dryer we had bought couldn't be repaired within 28 days so we got a new one. The delivery guys would take the old one and since it was only the on/off switch that would work(unless we jammed it on with a 5 pence piece we ended up with two in the garage.
On a separeate note I have just been complaining about a steam generated iron we bought 18 months ago that has gone faulty. I was given 3 options, to either buy another iron from them at a 50% discount, for them to collect and repair with a cheque from me for £12.50 or and this is probably the most interesting for everyone on this thread. I can have it looked at for £15. If it is found that it is a manufacturing fault rather than wear and tear they will replace the iron Free of charge.Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0 -
last year went to Thomas Cook to change out dollars back to sterling. The amount they offered seemed really low ( don't look at exchange rate as can't work it out) and my husband made a passing comment about wanting more for the dollars. The cahsier said OK put a higher exchange rate into the computer and we got an extra £10.000

We all know about Tesco R & R but its strange what happened to me this evening at Sainsbury.
I noticed that Oust new Portable fan was on special offer i.e 1/3 off so with the coupons I printed off (thanks to this site) put one then two into the basket when I realised that the refills worked out to be more expensive. This meant that it should be £3.82 per item instead of £6.17
After checkout I checked my bill - big mistake as it turned out. They hadnt given me the discounted price. At CS they refunded the difference, but when I asked for some gratuity for my inconvenience they just said "our apologies"
However had I left the shop, so the SA told me they would have refunded my money and let me keep the product.
Something to try next time - Though does this hold with common JS practice? Any CS staff out there who can verify this?
It would be great if it was true.Veteran Bargain Hunter -

Get mommy or daddy to help you. Your fat stubby fingers do not have the requisite dexterity yet. If you are significantly older than 5 (and I suspect you may be) no nappy bought outside of an adult-baby catalogue would be capable of withstanding the resultant pressures0 -
If you are given an item as a present & not suitable wrong fit/ dont like etc..
Or you buy something and have lost receipt you can always take it back and get vouchers or exchange for the current till price! No problems!
However if you buy something & keep hold of receipt there is no 28days limit you can return it whenever and get the price you paid refunded!
Heres the most interesting part however, if you buy an item in the summer sale last year at say £7.49 and it had a full price of £14.99
If you wait say 9-12 months (basically at least whole season from when you bought it, to help inside label it will say which yr & season its from ie s/s05 meaning spring summer 2005)
You can then return it this year without receipt & get exchange or vouchers of till price which will now have reverted to original full price!
If for any reason price is not at least what you paid or were expecting just make your excuses to the sales assistant and say I paid more & will look for your receipt!
The ammount of people that do this is amazing! But make sure you take the reduced price sticker off the tag or else the sales assistant will reduce price of refund to what sticker says!!
Also worth knowing if you pay in nectar vouchers & want to return an item you can get gift vouchers back instead!0 -

I think fablanta was referring to your statement "I was putting them on" and was (perhaps) attempting to be humorous. It may be that you meant "I was putting them on a small child" instead!0
