Hi gang, I enquired at the school about lunchtime cover during sickness & hols, they weren't over enthusiastic, but wrote my name in a file ( probably filed it under BIN, once I left:rotfl: )
Hey Kippers, I've got an allotment too!! we've only had it a little while & there's no shed on it, so need to get one ( cheaply of course ) with my Husband away, will need to arrange for when he's home, so he can build it, with my hindrance of course. My allotment was really overgrown, can't believe the work involved, great exercise & cheap, only about £26 a year & hopefully some of the stuff I've planted will grow.
My daughter (6) loves it up there, but my son (4) hates it, when I've got a shed, I'm sure he'll like it better as he can sit in there & play his Nintendo ds, which he's addicted to ( terrible mother ) so I haven't been up there as much as I would like & the weeds are BAD:eek:
My hubby is home on the 14th for the weekend, but no shed building as we are hopefully going to Legoland ( got kids go free vouchers from Walls website ) I've hardly done anything that's cost much this year as trying to clear debts, & I've really not felt like it, as my Mum died 23rd March, she was only 66 & very funloving, she'd just got back a week from a 3 week holiday in Goa with my dad & died in her sleep coranary thrombosis, sure it was something to do with longhaul flight, as her feet were really swollen that week. It's just been a really bad time, my Sister was just finishing her treatment for breast cancer, & my mum used to look after my 93 yr old Nan, but now my dad does her hoovering & shopping ( but he's having trouble coping ) & between me & my sister we cook her dinners & take her out, also my Husband only started his job in January, which meant he was away for weeks & has been really stressful dealing with all of this & looking after the children on my own, I try to stay strong, but I usually have a little cry every day, then I go back to " Mrs Happy" kids have got a party this afternoon, so will get to see a few people & tomorrow I'm going to take them to the Submarine museum ( free during heritage days event ) so that will keep us all happy & busy. Hope you all have a good weekend, sorry about the moaning, just feeling sorry for myself todayComping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner

I have really enjoyed reading this thread and I hope you dont mind me posting some of my own personal experiences.I married my first hubby when i was 18----cant quite believe now at 43 how stupid i was!!We had two children by the time i was 21. At 28 , after 10 years of been married to a man who showed me no respect I got divorced(very long story but wont go in to it all on here as i would be here for hours and hours!!!).I got married again when i was 32(still married to him---he really is a wonderful man!) .He has one son and i have the two kids(now grown up) to my first marriage.Money was very tight and OH sold his house and moved in with me. After paying my ex off(his share of the profit in the house) we were skint and had to start from scratch. All the kids went to Uni and we really had to make do for years and years. Then i stumbled across this site. In just over a year i have managed to clear all our debts and after 19 years of living in this house(bought it with my first hubby) we have eventually managed to buy ourselves our first house together(we move in 3 weeks).Through all the years of scrimping and saving---and all the years of having three kids to help support through Uni I have dreamt of the day we would be able to have a house together and a little bit more cash! My brother, who is just a year younger than me got married 13 years ago.He, appeared to have it all. A grand 5 bedroomed house, two full time incomes(granted i chose to be a SAHM so that was our decision), two kids and two sets of grandparents who would look after them at a drop of a hat(my parents made it clear that it was too much trouble to help us out--again another long story!!), two brand new cars and four holidays abroad each year. But this week i have just found out from my SIL that the marriage is over and it has made me realise that appearances are so deceptive. I had no idea that she was soooo unhappy. They have kept up with the Joneses for years and I really thought they had everything. She told me that she envies what i have!!I am learning to be happy with what i have and to appreciate my family---it has been a hard slog for us but we have got there in the end xxSealed pot challenge 7...my number is 2144.....started Nov 29th ....0

sorry daughter playing up good luck x x x x x0 -
Hi kizzywizzzy,
Good on enquiring at school, you wont go in the bin, they will be lucky to have someone offering a good back up like you are. . I am so sorry to here you lost your mum , I expect you really miss her, I wouldnt worry about crying, i think you probably need to with all the emotions you have had this year , I know I would be crying too x, Not just that your sister and nan to worry about too, and youre dad. Glad you are keeping yourself busy and getting out, its easy to switch off and hide away. It sounds like you are being a great mum/ person and keeping going and thinking of others too. take care
Hi Gilly glad you like this thread ,glad that you are happy after reading your little thread, and getting your kids through uni too ,yes I think keeping up with the jones is not good , perhaps at the end , they had it all but not a lot between them?, its hard though relationships are hard work sometimes and I think sometimes you go through cycles when it gets a bit stale and lots of people split when kids are grown up too, lack of money all different things try us.Good luck for your move in 3 weeks:T
hi sarah, great idea with the ironing, x2012 - Emergency savings fund goal by December 2012 £3000.000 -
Hi Guys:hello: well Teacup, what you read about how your day starts, will decide how the rest of the day goes was spot on:eek: Got a phone call from my sister, who is an angel (really, don't know where she hides the wings) my Nans friend had been to see her & her freezer had broken with all the dinners I made for her in it:mad: She has another freezer, which had 4 dinners in it, but nothing for today defrosted, so my lazy morning turned into mad panic, kids need a bath & to get changed for the party, wrap pressy, need to make Nana a dinner take it around sort out the mess & get to party. My Sister couldn't help as she was at a wedding, which she was helping to do the food for ( see told you, No 1 angel )
My 93 year old Nan still wanted to eat the dinners, they were completly defrosted & not even cold, threw them away & cleared out the freezer, yuk!
Now need to get it fixed or a new one, depends on cost of repair, it's only 2 years old.
Ironing is a good idea, not the greatest ironer, but would suit as could fit it in when able, just feel I would like to get out & meet people, talked the other parents ears off today at the party, a bad habit of mine due to lack of adult conversation:rotfl:
Anyway, planning on having a happy day tomorrow:j & start the day as I mean to go on, thanks for being great support, all of you & to the poster who said about the brother with everything, ( sorry terrible with names ) my Sister looked like she had everything, then found out her husband of over 20 years had been cheating on her for 2 years, her kids went wild ( much better now ) & then she found she had breast cancer ( hopefully ok, got the all clear ) My brother has loads of money, nice house etc, but went through a really bad patch with his wife nearly divorced, got through it & I can honestly say, we may not have as much, but I think we have the most solid marriage of all, we've been together since I was 17 & he was 18 & i'm now 37:shhh: so really we should be grateful for what we've got:T Anyway essay over, see can't stop talking:DComping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner

Got to take the enjoyment where you can, I try to , but it is hard to be cheerfull sometimes when things get on top of you, or money is tight

Hi there, had a nice day Sunday, took the children out to the submarine museum.Have managed to sort freezer situation out with my Nan also.
Hubby home Friday, can't wait :j
Missing him a lot, so much to do on my own with 2 children, especially as my Son isn't at preschool now as starting school Monday, so don't get a minutes break! That and coping with my grief, my Nan, (very demanding) & money probs, house a tip, everything getting on top of me a bit.
I don't know how single mums ( or dads for that matter ) cope, at least I know I will get some help when my husband's home, so I'm lucky.
Single parents deserve a medal:T

Hi all, sorry i've not been around for a few days. I've been back at work and hubby has been working in London for a few days and i'm shattered! Anyway hubby came back last night, i so missed him.
Kizzywizzywizzy, you poor thing, you have had it so hard! I'm sending you a great big internet hug as i think you need it. I think you are doing great! If you cry it's because you need to, don't try and stop yourself. I'm glad your hubby is back this Friday, enjoy legoland!
As regards to your allotment, it is hard to keep the weeds down (i'm surprised you have time to go there at all with everything you have going on). I put black plastic over the bits i'm not using for a while to stop the weeds coming through. My children love it down there. I do have a stock of chalk, hoops etc for them to play with and they usually take their bikes with them too. They particularly like making houses for woodlice or mud pies and getting completely filthy! I've had my first lottie for three years now and i've just taken another on a new plot and yes it's really overgrown. If you need any advice just ask.
Gilly 41, you are so right about keeping up with the 'Jones'. Since the beginnng of this thread, when i've got to say i was extremely low, i have slowly become happier everyday. I was in a bad marriage once too where my husband didn't love me but we both had good jobs and a lovely four bedroom detatched house and two cars, nice clothes etc. But the house was cold and unfriendly and never felt like home as there was no love in it. I left him and met my husband now and we have been together for 13 years and have two lovely children.
I think when i'm low i start thinking of the material things i had all those years ago instead of the wonderful wonderful things i have now, that money can't buy like my children, a home (not a just house) and a husband i love very much. I do think as a family we need to concentrate on slowing down and bringing more laughter in our house as sometimes life can become one big rush!
Sarahc44.....ironing is my worst job in the house, i hate it hate it hate it! I do admire you earning money ironing, you must like it.
Teacup, hope you are well, i'm still so grateful to you that you started this thread. It has made me feel so much better in myself over these few weeks and i love chatting to you all.
Love forward to hearing from you all soon.0 -

Hi Teacup & rest of the gang - Happy New Year!!
Have been very busy with Xmas as I'm sure you all have.
Now busy with competitions, trying to meet my challenge & hopefully win a few either useful, fun or saleable bits & bobs.
Got over the 1st Xmas without my Mum, my Dad came to me, my Nana was supposed to come too, but had a fall & wasn't able to, so lots of visits to her (she's ok just cut her head open & very bruised )+ I had flu over Xmas, getting better now:D
Applied for a job & my childrens school, ( lunchtime supervisor ) got an interview, but didn't get it, 4 people went for it & one has already done the same job at another school, though they did say if another comes up they won't bother to re-interview me, as I would be in the running. Glad I won't be starting work tomorrow really as not quite well yet.
Hope you all had a great Xmas & all the best for 2008, which has definately got to be a better year than 2007 for me:TComping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner
