I like the planning part of do-er uppers but not the actual work Kitten :rotfl:
My parents had a new build 19 years ago and I loved it. I was gutted when they moved so I'm hoping I feel the same about this one in a few years time! I love the layout and the size. Location is good too - right by an Aldi (easy walking distance, even with heavy bags) so nice cheap shopping :D

It's quite far along in the build process so we've missed out on being able to pick kitchen units etc but it means they've thrown in more and we can't have everything....and also I really like what the site office has chosen so that helps :D

I'm not sure about end of year target Kitten, it's going to be an expensive few months so I might revert to paying minimums plus extra monies I make such as ebay rather than going gung ho at debt repayments like I have been...will see how it goes and whether I can knock a little off the price of the new build. We haven't officially reserved yet so I'm firmly of the opinion that if you don't ask, you don't get!

Also, thanks to my wonderful Grandad shouting about trading standards :o we've had a small bonus refund that we weren't expecting. I'm sure I'll explain all in another post but my lunch is almost over so back to the grind I go.

PS Hi Tink :hello: Thank you :D It's likely that OHs friend will move with us for the first month or so - he is heading home for a visit in January (after which I have laid down the law and agreed that he is not returning to our house) and I don't mind too much as long as he helps us move :D

Lol I don't blame you, its the worst thing moving isn't it, can't believe I'm thinking of doing it again lol, but if he helps then that is a big bonus.

Well I visited the builder yesterday and they aren't able to offer any cost reduction of the property BUT I managed to wangle quite a lot of extras - flooring for the whole house, including ceramic tiles throughout the ground floor (quoted £2100 min for ceramics alone ), fencing upgrade, some additional tiling in the bathroom and downstairs WC as well as some money towards our legal fees and they will pay our stamp duty...all in all a very productive hour spent haggling I think :D

OH thinks I'm mental for continuing to overpay the mortgage when we are about to move but it all helps as far as I'm concerned. That money was allocated for our (very small) monthly overpayment so why not use it for such?!

I can't say I'm looking forward to moving again Tink but it will be the last time for a very long time! The plan is to stay here for a good 15 -20 years until the mortgage is pretty much done and then build our dream house. Nothing like looking forward :rotfl:

Payday today so I've paid another chunk off and will have my normal monthly DDs coming out over the next 10 days or so, at least it's still coming down. It needs to to be able to proceed with the bigger mortgage really. Our figures are all based on my debt as of today so any reduction is a bonus for the bank/building society as far as I'm concerned.

Thank God it's Friday - there has been a massive fire locally in a factory with asbestos roofs which have ended up all over roads, pavements, peoples gardens etc which is causing me a HUGE headache at work trying to allocate enough manpower to the clean up. I'll be glad to open a bottle of £3.99 bargainous wine tonight and we are off to see the new Jack Reacher (OH paid :)) film at the IMAX so I'm looking forward to a nice content weekend :)

    Thanks muppets and Bob

MFD Thank you - I've been totally inspired by your airbnb overpayments - definitely something I'll be looking into once OHs friend goes home as we will have a spare room with an en suite. Hopefully it's half as succesful for us as it is for you - I can't imagine where we live is particularly buzzing for airbnb customers though!

How exciting Kirsty, love all the haggling that you did and what you have got from it, sounds amazing.

Have you any idea when you will be moving? This year or next?

I do love a bargain or freebie :D It's down for second week of December completion at the moment Tink...but subject to change. They have already moved it back from Nov to Dec so we will see what the next few weeks bring!

Wow how exciting, I didn't think it would be that quick. Have you started packing already?

Hats on way to you, do you have any new weights of babies? And I hope they are both well.
