OS Daily Thursday 16 August

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 16th August 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all - I've never been first before...

I'm awake very early these days - I'm trying to sort out changing my university place to somewhere closer to home and it's very complicated! I wake up thinking about everything I need to do and it's easier to just get up and get on with it.

Have a good day, everyone. Off to make a cup of tea, back later.

Julia xx

Good Morning JP - and everyone still to post! Woke up early and decided to make a start having done nothing yesterday worth speaking of! WM finished one load, ironing underway. Today is definitely a sorting out one - hopefully by bedtime we'll have a spare room we can use again - and I'll have atoned for yesterday's lazy fit!
Hope we hear from JackieO soon..
((hugs)) to all who need one and congratulations to anyone celebrating anything!

    Morning Julia & everyone else
I've just dropped hubby at the station & feel ike going back to bed now, but I won't I'm off out with a friend at 10:30 (she said 9:30, but we've been friends for 20 yrs & I know her well) we're going shopping, well, she is, it's her only hobby, I will buy some comfy shoes for work if I see any.
I need a wider fitting, but I still love pretty shoes & still wear heels even though I'm on my feet all day. I'm the oldest person in our Admin team & no-one realises it & I want to keep it that way, yes I know it's vain, but I have to have some pleasure in life, lol.
Other plans for today include, re-installing my printer drives as the scanner's stopped working, wrap up 2 more books to post, get pork chop out for hubby's tea tonight & have a quick swish & swipe round the kitchen.
Hope everyone has a good day.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning All

Not sure how the interview went last night. I don't think I'll get the job. They seemed to have a hang up on a couple of things. Also I'm not sure I want the job now I've spoken to them. First they said I'd be on more money than I am at the moment, then they asked how I'd feel about getting the same as I'm on now. Now, this is a senior position to what I currently have, so I'd obviously want more cash. Also, do I want to uproot my life and move away from all my friends and family? Going to do some serious thinking. I should find out what's happening tomorrow afternoon.

Managed to swallow a cheese omlette before leaving yesterday. Got my breakfast and lunch in my bag. I'm really, really tired though and just want to go home to bed. Someone texted me at 10.30pm last night (they know I get up at 4am as I work with them). They wanted to know the best place to buy a sandpit with legs:rolleyes: How should I know??????? And I'm sure you can't buy one at that time of night anyway!

Think I'm going to spend this evening on the phone to friends. Need their opinion on the whole work situation.

    Hope everyone's ok

oh and congrats to all mummies-to-be

Morning. Looking a bit cloudy here. Nothing planned for today. Big steam rally tomorrow which I am looking forward to. I thought steam rally's were for anoracks a while back, But having been to this particular one a few years ago, I am hooked. Great day out....

Today.... A bit of gardening... probably an argument with the OH over something, like it's boring.... Who knows? Well Cheers for now.

    Good morning all,

    Congratulations to anyone celebrating

3rd day posting and i'm trying to stop myself moaning! We had a rough day yesterday, my poor daughter just gets a bit bored as she normally goes to nursery and when she's not there we're out and about alot, i'm just so tired that I can't do much with her. Mr Alibob did promise that he would take a week off in August but its August 16th and nothing is settled or booked despite me asking him to book off certain days (my dad is having open heart surgery next week and is coming here to recover) We live in Colchester and the hospital is in Uxbridge and I can't drive that alone with DD so asked that dh take a couple of days at the end of the week so he can be here to pick him up. I got a bit upset last night, dh's response, lets go shopping on Saturday and buy you an eternity ring!! Now, don't get me wrong, I love jewellry and would love one but just how is that going to help? I get the impression he wants to shut me up! He doesn't seem to realise that the thought on trawling around town even to buy me diamonds is not appealing. Still, 4 weeks to go and then baby will arrive (c-section) and after a couple of weeks recovery i'll hopefully start to feel myself again, I hate the Alibob I am at the moment.

We have a friend and her 2 children coming to visit today, dd didn't mix with other kids very well but has recently started to get interested in other kids, we saw these last week and she had a great time so hopefully today will be the same.

They are staying for lunch too, so today I need to clean kitchen, clean downstairs loo and general tidy (hoovered & mopped yesterday after dropping a full bottle of lea and perrins on the kitchen floor  )

    breakfast: toast
lunch: sandwiches, crisps, salad and cake
dinner: no idea, I spent £60 in tesco's yesterday but don't seem to have much to show for it!

One peice of good news that has cheered me no end is my lovely Sister in law who has just been approved to adopt a gorgeous baby boy, i'm so so happy for them they have been through so much to get here, their baby should arrive about the same time as mine!

Sorry to moan, best to ignore me!
    Have a great day all

Hugs to Alibob, moan away, best to let it out, it sounds like you have a lot on your plate. & I'm sure you'll feel better once the baby is here.
    Hugs Hester

    Bore Da!
DS2 gets his AS results today, so fingers crossed for everyone in the same position!

I had 12 hours sleep last night - missed dinner so that is a big saving!
I am starting to feel slightly more human, but OM is very unwell still. I think he should see a doctor but (as usual) he is insisting he is fine, but then goes grey and rushes off... He is supposed to go back to work today. Hope nobody gets in his way or they will get trampled.

Went to Boots and Tesco yesterday for some basics, then called in at M&S with my £25 apology voucher (they messed up my sale order). Delighted to find a £3 sale rail!

Charlies_mum I am making soup too!
Scuzz good luck with your decision.
Going to chop up my fruit for breakfast now, WM on and about to put last night's load on the line as it is fine! Did manage to fully unpack last night and have decided to get rid of the suitcase with the jammed wheel, so shall use it instead of my charity shop collection bag.

Have a great OS day all.
