Just a wee question about the switching bonus. Due to what it says on their T&Cs, that you can't have a bonus if you have had one since January 2012, in theory, if I had got a bonus earlier than this, could I switch a donor account to my main account and get the bonus again?

It's purely hypothetical and I'm questioning it because I have never seen this from any other bank, aside from the YB/Clydesdale loophole that has since been closed. Any others I have read state that "you can only take advantage of this offer once".

Has anyone ever had more than one switching bonus from the same bank on these switching merry-go-rounds. It will be a while before I have exhausted all the offers but just wondering if there are any further loopholes to exploit? Is there a time frame when you leave a bank that they forget you were a customer, say if you went back five or so years later and took advantage of an offer again?

Most banks have already closed the 'multiple switch' offers and specify that you can only receive a switching incentive once.

If you meet the T&C which specify a particular date, you will qualify. I'm sure there are people on here who done exactly what you suggest in your hypothetical example with Halifax.

Seems very clear cut to me. The T&Cs say that you cannot have a switching bonus if you have had one since January 2012. That means you can have the switching bonus if you have had a switching bonus before January 2012, or if you never had a switching bonus.

Those are the changed T&C for running the account.

The question was about bonuses for switching to the account. That's covered in the switching T&Cs. Which are, probably, not covered by the T&Cs about running the account and will, probably, be just the same as the wording given by Colsten.

Not sure how days of the week are relevant though!

Joe initially set up his Tesco DDs on the Reward account for the 31st (because that's the earliest date Tesco gave him). Because it's been pointed out that that date is too close to the end of the month (indeed, he'll miss out on August's Reward payment as the 31st is BH Monday) he now needs to bring them forward...because of bank non-working days. :)

Actually, in practice (I've mentioned this before), he will get August's reward: the direct debit will go out on 1st September which is still within this month's monthly billing period so the reward will be credited for August as the system is happy despite the terms and conditions stating calendar month.

Hi YB, I've changed my DD to 20th for this month, and thereafter.Hoping £5 is in tomorrow or tuesday.? Probably will be. Also cancelled the 2 DD's that Tesco set up with H/fax, but they never used.
I was being flippant regarding banks non-working days, technology works 24/7/365. They make our money work for them on overnight markets et'al
.All days should be working days, when it comes to money.Us retired codgers don't have days off.:rotfl:

DD needs to be paid out in each calendar month so DD due out on 31st August will come out in September and will be used for the October reward payment...

If its paid out in September and you have not paid out DD for august then you will not get the £5 payment on 2nd September.

You will. I've tried it before (when I had Reward accounts).

20th is a good day to use, like mentioned earlier as long as two DD have been paid between 1st - 31st July and you have funded the account with at least £750, then you will get the payment on Tuesday 4th backdated to the 1st (this is the second working day of the month as per T&C's)

now your DD are set for the 20th you can forget about them now and just pay in the the £750, :-)
