    Just received the same letter and on skim-reading originally thought they were dropping the requirement for DDs completely. Currently, having those direct debits is a requirement to keep the account. They were downgrading accounts if they fell below 2 direct debits and presumably they will stop doing this from November.
    I concur, and wonder if they're having a tidy up and planning to withdraw their standard Current Account on the back of this? Makes sense really as it's identical in other respects.

    They used to require a minimum of £1K pay-in per month. They dropped that to £750. I kept paying in, and paying out, my £1K. I reckon I will do just the same with the DDs as they are working like clockwork.

    You will need to keep the DDs paying out if you want to continue receiving the £5 reward. The change is that you won't require them to retain the account.

    Hi Guys , Update;
    My 2 DD's pulled yesterday,first time, out of my H/fax reward 31st, £10 each,into tesco, IS & IAS..
    Still showing Unknown to frequency,to both , but, in tesco, it's monthly, as I set them up.( no stranger to it).
    Still no £5, so 2 months now not received it.(yet)
    Halifax still has 4 mandates set up for Tesco, 2 as above, 2 unknown, , BUT, they are not showing in Tesco, who set them up in June, the start of this debacle;
    I can just cancel the first 2 , when I get the second 2 paying my £5.?showing monthly.
    All my other DD's with Tesco are fine, just H/fax.:D
    Looks like that phone call after all.???:(
    They are not using my A/c in the spirit I set it up for.:-) :-) LBG
    Might be easier to just re-switch, again.sod the £5.

    Don't ring yet.

    If you met the Reward conditions in July, (ie credit at least £750, pay 2 x DDs, and stay in credit) then your July Reward payment will be made into your current account at close of business on the first working day of August...so that's Monday night/Tuesday morning next week.

    Thanks YB.
    You wouldn't believe how hard it is to get a fiver, when they chucked £200 at me in days.
    I don't want to ring at all.;)
    Will give it till midweek,see what happens.
    I still cannot understand how H/fax has 4 DD mandates set up with Tesco, yet Tesco have only 2 showing with H/fax..???
    where's the first 2 gone?:beer:

    I can guarantee if you don't have it by 02:00 on Tuesday you won't be getting it. This is because your account T&Cs say it...
    ...will be paid into your Reward Current Account by the second working day of the following calendar month.

    Julys £5 payment will be in the accounts by Tuesday, as its paid 2nd working day of the month, so due to the 1st/2nd being the weekend.

    If you get the payment will depend if you have paid out two DD and paid in £750.00

    I would bring your DD payment forward for next month as the 31st is BH Monday and therefore your DD wont go out till September 1st so you will sacrifice August reward....

    not sure what has happened to the other two DD but as long as the two have paid out I would then delete the other two DD that haven't been taken.

    Just a wee question about the switching bonus. Due to what it says on their T&Cs, that you can't have a bonus if you have had one since January 2012, in theory, if I had got a bonus earlier than this, could I switch a donor account to my main account and get the bonus again?

    It's purely hypothetical and I'm questioning it because I have never seen this from any other bank, aside from the YB/Clydesdale loophole that has since been closed. Any others I have read state that "you can only take advantage of this offer once".

    Has anyone ever had more than one switching bonus from the same bank on these switching merry-go-rounds. It will be a while before I have exhausted all the offers but just wondering if there are any further loopholes to exploit? Is there a time frame when you leave a bank that they forget you were a customer, say if you went back five or so years later and took advantage of an offer again?
