Ooh Sam, I do love a sullied diary to come back to! :D

OMG to that Pavlova, Rosa. I think the right flavoured pavlova has to be one of my favourite desserts so thank you for that introduction.

DIA - you help yourself to any goodies left in my diary. I'd happily give you all my last rolo's too! ;)

I did get your PM Tink, thank you. I will send a proper reply to that very soon.

I was back in work last Wednesday and not really feeling up to it, so didn't have much energy to update here. It was nice to feel like I was back in the realms of normal, but as I have an almost 2 hour commute each way, I was already feeling out of sorts by the time I arrived in work.

Then, due to being away for 2 weeks I had so much stuff waiting for me to catch up on, so it was difficult to catch my breath. I did leave on time each day though and my boss let me work from home on Friday, which I really needed. It made such a difference not starting and ending the day out in that bitter cold traipsing around on public transport.

My weekend was really nice. I went to visit my Mum in her new home and had a nice catch up.

I also finally managed to get in touch with my surgeon/consultant. He's given me some information, which explains why I felt so much pain for so long, but he also wants to see me on Wednesday afternoon as there's some things it's apparently better to talk face to face about. I'm worried about that, but also hopeful that I'll at least find out what I'm up against and can devise a cunning plan of action.

So this week I'll get a break from the commute again half way through the week so that's great timing.

Financially I'm very vague! I have so many big bills coming out this month that I'm scared to look at the dent that will create. So I'm just avoiding spending money as a consequence and will have a look probably on Wednesday evening in place of the commute time.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and are all set for a great new week. It's the Super Moon today, with the moon the biggest at 1:34pm so should still be looking pretty super by the time it gets dark now! Roll on the ligher nights again!

That's the nicest thing anyone has said to me all day :) Although now I have permission it won't be such good fun pinching them....

MT, that is such a long commute. I know what you mean, mine is similar and when I WFH it makes such a difference. Could you get an agreement for regular days WFH? This is what I have done and it makes all the difference. Especially now you are recovering...
    Take care x

  • I agree with DIA about it being such a long commute. No wonder you are worn out when you get home.

  • Good to hear from you MT, and I hope your appointment goes well. Also not surprised you are a bit wiped out with the commute - it takes a while to get used to it. That's a great idea from DIA about asking for a regular day WFH, if you think you might get it?

When I was on secondment last year, I found that after a few weeks I got myself better organised and it didn't feel like quite such a drag, but I did have to keep on top of things so that I had breakfast things in and outfits organised. I also had to reshuffle things like doing the washing as sometimes by the time I got home it was a bit late to start a wash - so I finally learnt how to use my delay timer!

I must admit, I've felt really worn out at the end of each day the last couple of weeks. Taking time off is lovely, but it takes some getting used to going back to the long days, especially now it gets dark so early.

You're right about getting organised Rosa. I'm planning working on a few things this weekend to help get me organised. I don't have a delay timer on my washing machine, but I do have a "daily wash" setting which only takes around 30 minutes which is also long enough for me to feel that my clothes have still had a decent wash.
