Due to my sad need for chocolate I rarely have the willpower for a stash Sam. Your post actually reminded me of years ago when I brought a man home after a few dates and he said that he didn't realise I drank so much. That was because I had about 7 bottles of alcohol in the house from champagne (I'd won) to beers and whiskey. All had been gifts other than the champagne. I had to explain that the fact I had some in the house meant I wasn't bothered about them but challenged him to find some uneaten chocolate! :D

This weekend has been quite diverse! Friday was a bit of a rush as I hadn't prepared for my 2 radio shows or the training I needed to do. Got that sorted and the shows went ok.

Then yesterday I had a really lazy day. I had hoped to do lots more than I did, but I just didn't have the enthusiasm.

Today I'm back on it!!! So more decluttering has been done and I can barely move in my hallway for items to take to charity, which I'll need to do tomorrow. I wrote out a to do list for the weekend and although I've not done it all, I still have tomorrow and it's for guidance purposes only! :D

Work could possibly have a brighter light at the end of the tunnel. The new Director has approved some longer term requests I've made, so I'm hoping that means I'll still be around for a while. The only issue is my line manager is trying hard to put a stop on the new role he's approved for me. She wants me to do some tedious reports to help her out (she's talked herself out of a job and is now trying to backtrack on that now she can see she's not going to get what she asked for)! These reports are long-winded and fiddly, so could prevent the role change if she has her way. Luckily the Director (from what I've heard by a colleague who overheard the conversation) didn't really entertain her. The thing that upsets me is that she and I have spoken a few times and I've told her how excited I am by the new role and that I don't want to work on reports, and she still insists on trying to force me into them. They're not business transferable either.

Anyway, I'm going to go into work on Tuesday and just completely take on the role I believe I have (but can't be made official until the Director has figured the department roles out). That way, it shows initiative and interest and shows my intention.

Financially, I received a letter from the bank letting me know that my Regular Saver is about to mature! Very excited to get my hands on that money and start another one.

Right, Jurassic Park 2 is on TV shortly, so I think that's the next couple of hours fixed for me!

I hope everyone's had a great weekend. MTxx

Good job on your decluttering MT. I usually end up having a good week if I declutter at the weekend, I think it declutters my mind :D

I hope the good news at work continues to come, and I'm glad the Director appears to have your back. Its a stressful time when your dept is under review. I was so relieved when our process was officially over!

    Have a good week :)

Sounds to me like your line manager is panicking and trying to make herself look busy and indispensable, if she's realised her options are more limited than she hoped. I feel you are probably absolutely right to get on with the new role, but if necessary you might want to get that OK'd by someone else so she can't give you bother about it. A quiet word explaining that you are so excited about the new role but feel the need for a little bit of direction given all the uncertainty would seem to solve things while still making it clear how clever and useful and tactful you are ;)

I have to keep chocolate in the house because if I don't have any to hand, I panic about what would I do if I really really want some :rotfl:but am just the same with alcohol - I had to pour some away last time I had a clearout as it had gone out of date .

Thanks for the Regular Saver reminder, I should sort a new one of those too.

Hey MT, happy new year and all that jazz! It sounds like you have had a tough few months and I hope things start to improve for you. Sounds like a good oppertunity selling to your neighbour, I'm sure they will expect you to sell at market value as long as its reasonable!

    Bet of luck,

You're so right bellevie, having decluttered more at home over my weekend my head was on much straighter for work!

Thank you Rosa. I decided that the initial approval had come from the Director and that my Line Manager was creating white noise, so I ignored it and my Director has reassigned another person for her to pass work to!

Definitely get that regular saver started. I hardly thought about it during the year and now I'm getting a nice little sum. I have one with First Direct at 6% interest and another with M&S also at 6%. M&S matures in May.

Hi Jodles. It would be great to sell to my neighbour although I think he may be shocked at the house prices at the moment, but I'll find that out when we start the process moving. I'll pop to your diary shortly for a catch up of what's been going on with you.

    Oh Sam! If only! :D

I got myself a bit worked up over the weekend about how my line manager has been trying to cut off this great career path I've been working towards. It's also highlighted how she's done that a few times in the past but the Director did as she asked and I was given other work to get me off the path I was on. Anyway, it's all worked out as the Director's vision is very much customer focused and my new role and personality is also very customer focused. So, by trying to stop me doing my new role she's actually gone against his vision and he's not happy with her because of it.

I've also been given another high profile project, so have 3 really great jobs to be moving forward with. Loving that! I'm feeling safer about my future there, but also happier to have a safe future as I'm now doing what I've been craving!

A lot of this is to do with a Senior Manager from another department who, after seeing me struggle with a previous project last year, stepped in and literally took me through every step of the process so I had some guidance. He has nothing to do with my department and didn't need to help me, but chose to put himself out there. With all of the negativity that's recently come to light, that beacon of hope and having some support has really stood out for me. I would have definitely failed without his help. He's also spoken to a colleague of his who is putting a few hours aside for me next week to teach me some methodologies they use, so I need to think of a way of saying thank you without making it a big deal. He'd hate a big deal, but I have to say thank you! Hmm! I'll have to put some thought into that.

Financially, I need to update YNAB! Oh, and I've been very bad. I was taking some clutter to the charity shop on Monday and it's next to a 2nd hand jewellers. I love antique looking jewellery and saw a beautiful 3 stone ring in the type of setting I love and so ...... I bought it! I had no money on me, so I drove home, got my cash card and drove back!!!!!!! Happy January to me!!!! :o

Also on Monday I had to go into 02 and collect my phone. Their email was a bit ominous as it didn't state if my phone had been repaired or if they would be charging me, so I took a deep breath and acted like a big girl and wandered in. Phone all fixed, sleep button working, new camera lens, new screen, new battery and no charge. The invoice was for around £375 but then it had a discount for the full amount and my phone feels brand new again! Thank goodness for iTunes backups too! I lost 1 text message that had been sent while I was on my way to the shop!!!! Yay!!!

So, things are feeling positive again, which I think has a lot to do with writing down my intentions and giving myself a chance to think things through for the desired outcome! I wish I'd started a journal much sooner!

Half way through the week! We're on the home straight now people!!! ;)

I think you should try Sam's suggestion in the personal ads just for the heck of it :D

Glad to hear work is going well. Hurrah for lovely other-department manager and karma with raspberries :pto your line manager.

Enjoy your 2016 ring too. You've reminded me that now my latest swotting phase is done I can get back to my Desire Map planner and give it a bit more attention. I am finding it really helpful, some days it just gets short answers but even that keeps me thinking of the right things.

YNAB is all up to date and reconciling. One of my banks is a bit odd in that it doesn't always recognise exact totals in my account at weekends. It was a real mess when I tried to reconcile on Sunday, but I decided not to put in any adjustments and yesterday it all worked out. Very happy with that!

I've had to transfer £82 to a friend for a 2 night trip to Sweden in May though, so I'm pretty poor until the end of the month. By pretty poor I mean hunting the ground for spare pennies!!! :o

I've also been on Swagbucks and watched videos, did a few genuine searches which earned 5SB and checked onepoll (nothing doing there). They're all updated now.

My line manager was throwing more spanners in on Wednesday and then she cc'd me in to get me to support what she was trying to do. She works from home, so I took it out of email and went to speak to the Director. He was so supportive that I asked for a quiet word and thanked him for his support and how he's handled this situation. He confirmed that he thinks the tasks she's trying to give me is "busy" work and my skills are too valuable to be stuck on those! He's also asked for my support to put the word out that he has helped me, as he's suffering from the culture of the previous Director, so I'm happy to help there too.

Radio today and I've offered to go in early so my trainee can work in the unused studio in the hope he can do the request show. He's had experience at a volunteers radio, but every time he looks at the desk it's like the first time for him. I think his confidence is shot, so it should just be a case of boosting that hopefully. But it's going to be a long day at the station from 1:30pm until 8pm and doing 2 shows. Phew! These first days of handing over the desk are always the hardest. But it feels great when they get the hang of it and start putting out great shows so it's all worth it.

Then I'm off visiting a friend overnight tomorrow and I'm really excited about that as we've not had a proper catch up for months. She lives so far from me now, so face to face meets don't happen so often anymore. Which reminds me to check my house for in date alcohol to take to her. Plus, I bought her a huge box of chocolates that still requires willpower to hand over!!! :D

I think I've earned a bath now!!! Have a lovely Friday all and I'll catch up with diaries over the weekend.

    MTxx
