I've realised that I let other people influence my life way too much! It was like another lightbulb moment yesterday. Or maybe I'm so lazy that I like to make other people's actions be the reasons I don't get where I want to be? So that will be my main focus for the timebeing, figuring out what I want January to bring me and get a grip on February too. It sounds so regimented, but it's really not as I'm such an easily distracted person. If I write up my own "rules" and stick to them then I know they're thought out and considerate of others, but that I'm on a good path too.

As it's Monday I'm not working which means that I need to get a lot done today before I head back to work and my normal routine tomorrow. My box room is where I put my "next home" packing and that's just a hot mess. So I'm going to go through the things I thought I needed in October and re-evaluate it all and then organise everything in there.

My oven is looking so much better, and I'm still going to bed with a shiny sink. Today is a Kondo day though! :D Tonight will be more FlyLady!

I hope everyone is feeling the positivity of the New Year still.

    Hi MT

Wow sounds like you are having a major decluttering!

I think we all maybe wait on other people's decisions and actions, but sometimes that's just part of the flow - nobody being an island etc. But if you know now that what's right for you is in another direction, then it's time to start swimming that way.

I like your plan of using January as reflection time, especially as it sounds like that fits with your work situation - hopefully you will have a clearer idea of where you want to go as the answers begin to come in from your work.

  • Hi MT. You're sounding very focused and busy. I wish I could do even a tiny bit of packing.

Have you decided to sell to your neighbour? I hope one day you do get to do the business that you want.

Thanks for the hugs. It's getting harder to stay strong as its a bit of a bad atmosphere. Hopefully not for too much longer.

I really am trying to get as much stuff gone as possible, Rosa. A facebook friend put up a picture of 3 boxes and a large bag showing that as what she owns so her house move is proving very easy! She values experiences and not things which was great motivation. MTx

If I do sell, Tink, my neighbour will definitely get first refusal. He's such a lovely neighbour. My only worry (unfounded) is that he'll think he'll get a discounted rate. I'm sure he can't think that as I need to buy a place, but I think my worry is more about offending him when I say no, that it sometimes plays on my mind. I'll be getting 3 valuations and will go with the middle of those (unless one is excessively low or high and then I'll scrap that and get another), so we'll both be fine and we both save money on estate agent fees.

Definitely sending hugs to you Tink as I know the atmosphere must feel really unsettling. We have that sort of thing at work but we're strong women. We can get through this and be more grateful for the good things that are coming. MTxx

Work today has been full of educated guesses of our future. It's looking more and more shaky, and that's ok, but the way they're going about things feels a bit underhand.

I have looked at stripping my budget to the bare minimum to try to create the biggest buffer I can. Although that idea may have arrived a bit late as I expect we'll hear something this month.

On a plus, I have been offered some job assistance by someone high up in the Firm (who would very much know what's going on) so that could potentially mean they want to keep the new role I've moved myself into? At this stage it is all guess work and although we all know it's not worth thinking about and we'll find out what's going on when they tell us, as it's our livelihood that's at stake it's obviously all we can think about.

On the plus, I'm loving new YNAB with it being web based and having an app to update. I'm far more organised with this one than I was with the desktop version as I didn't always want to fire up my laptop every time I had a few budget updates.

I bought lunches again!!!! When will I learn. All it needs is a little "r" to make "bought" to "brought" but this isn't something I've fully grasped yet! Too wasteful and I seriously need to fix it as London lunches are ridiculous prices.

Our canteen is meant to be subsidised but they've just increased their prices by an average of 30% too! Hmmf!!! :)

So, doom and gloom aside, it's the middle of the week and I just have one working day left! Which means just one more alarm this week! Hooray for that! :D

We're over the hump everyone! We've got this!!!

God yes first week back nearly over! Hurrah

I do think because we are such kind accommodating people - Other people do seem to influence our choices in life.

My advice is to firstly eat chocolate to stimulate the brain and then take the time to be unusually selfish ..lol

Who ever really knows what they want?- yes we all have many desires but it's always good to reflect on what really makes us happy.

Remember what being happy feels like and work out a plan of how you can get there!

I forgive you the lunches is one of the things I just never stick too either!

As for the lady with the bin liner and bits ...come on ;P..You know she has the bursting double wardrobe full of "stuff" just out of camera shot ...lol

As always take care of you! - Life has a funny way of often righting itself over time - so for the now just be brave and go for it with choices you make

I am going to assume that your friend either rents furnished or is moving into a caravan :rotfl:

I follow a couple of minimalism sites on fb so can find those for you if you like

We both know MT needs a least a pied-à-terre just for her stash of chocolate alone ...:rotfl:
