My Journey To My Pot Of Gold

Sometimes I need to pinch myself that I'm debt and mortgage free. Being here now, I'm so pleased that I did make those sacrifices to get my debts and mortgage paid up. At the time I felt like my friends' bag carrier when we went shopping and could never figure out how they had such amazing things while I had very little, but now I feel so grateful that I put that effort in. Those same people have revealed that what they buy is on a credit card, and often not a 0% one. Even the ones who hit a wall with getting credit are still applying for more whenever they see a build your credit type card being advertised.
Sadly, the clutter in my house tells me I wasn't as good as I could have been, as there's so much money wasted there, but I've decided that buying those things relieved the feelings of "poor relation" that I would often get so maybe they suited a purpose at the time.

Thank you so much for saying that bellevie. I hadn't really thought about it, but I guess you're right that I have managed to get myself here, which isn't a place many of my friends are even close to! It's lovely getting those fresh eyes on my situation.0

I should probably warn you all of a soppy alert! I'm getting quite smitten here! Or is it twitterpated?
I saw Mr 3rd time lucky again last night and we had a little trip up to the seafront as it's been so long since I went up there and just watched the world go by. We bought a bag of chips between us (not being cheap, just not particularly hungry) and sat on the sea wall eating them and chatting. Again, laughing until I was bent over trying to catch my breath. But we do also talk about lots of serious things too, so it's a good combination. As I feel the cold but don't bring out jumpers or jackets with me, he'd placed a fleece in his car so I had something warm to put on when I got too cold.:o
Which means that yesterday cost me just breakfast. I think that was £3.20 for food and a coffee! He paid for the chips and drove, and he turned up with a beautiful bunch of flowers too! Lovely vibrant colours.
Tonight I need to get some money changed up for my day trip to France which is during my cruise next week. I may also need a pair of comfortable walking shoes as I only have boots, but as this weather seems so changeable I'm tempted to just risk it and go without the expense of a pair of shoes/trainers. Writing that feels right to risk it!
Well, it's Wednesday and we all know what that means - hit it!
Have a fantastic hump day everyone! MTxx0 -
Hi MT. Happy hump day. Mr 3rd Time lucky sounds lovely and what a lovely night you had. I'd rather have a bag of chips by the sea front that sit in a restaurant. I had a bit of a spendy day yesterday but still managed to reign it in a bit which was even a surprise to me.
Have a good day.

So looking at my current goals, I've lost a little direction with them and now it's time that changed.
Thanks to Sam I'm going to set up a little "life goals" notepad which will include daily spends and current goal to-do list.
Concentrating on the current goals I have
Current Goals from 27 August 2015
HOME
Declutter
Take Maria Kondo book away with me and work on losing the emotional connection with objects and stuff again. Take highlighter pen and index stickers to keep a track of thnigs and also make notes in notebook for things that I need to be reminded of when I get home.
Create vision board. Make a list of things to add to the vision board ready to search online for pictures when I get home.
WORK
Regroup on realistic budget for the month. Work out how to get last cc paid off and money into the freedom fund before the end of this year.
Updates required on personal website and a plan of action for WH and MJ sites.
I've also had a physical business idea that I'm looking into, but until the home tasks are sorted, it's not yet a real possibility.
PERSONAL
Friendships are doing well, so need to ensure that I update personal goals notepad with dates and notes of importance to keep this in focus.
Relationship(?) added now, and need to make sure that I don't spread myself too thinly.
Regarding the personal, I know I am seeing Mr 3rd Time Lucky more than I probably should at the beginning, but I am away next week so won't be able to see him for 10 days. Also, I'm not cancelling plans or seeing him to the detriment of others so I'm not seeing any harm in it.
HEALTH
This is a big one. I need to write up an exercise plan. I love cycling and weights and I have both of those for free, so now I need to incorporate time for both of those on my return from holiday. Another update for the personal goals notebook.0 -
Thanks Tink. It's so relaxed and lovely. I read about you reigning in your shop wander and really felt for you. Sometimes just the act of picking something up and putting it in your basket can scratch a light spendy itch, can't it?
