prosecution for doing 60 in a 60 zone

They aren't. 7.5t+ have a different set of limits. Some might be the same, not all are.
Only the M/way limit is different for over 7.5 tonnes, 60 instead of 70 which is another anomaly... vehicles 7.5 tonnes & less have the same m/way limit as cars, 70. So why continue with the 10mph differential on single/dual carriageways?A decision whoever purchased them made in full knowledge of the lower limits. The drivers drive them in full knowledge of the lower limits. Or, rather, should do.
Agreed but that isn't the point I'm making. The limit needs revising upwards as it has been for trucks... there is no need for the present lower limits or do they make any sense.Do you, by any chance, have an SP10 you'd like to make public at this point?
Clean licence for 23 years thanks... only because I haven't been caught, yet
So why not use a Touran for your business use?
Or put windows, a table, a cooker and a cupboard in - then get it re-registered as a camper, and it'll be on the car limits.
It's not my choice, the company I work for lease the vehicles. I don't drive the Caddys very often usually the HGV they have.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
its a vauxhall vivaro!
So not even similar to being a CDV, so no confusion at all.I can admit i didnt know at the time that I had to do 50 ( or 10 percent less as informed by the police)
I also didnt know that I couldnt do 70 on a dual carriageway. but now i do..
it appears a lot of people arent clear about it.
Very true. A lot of people would fail their driving test if they had to resit it tomorrow. But there are speed signs on every road
1. No, there aren't, although on roads were there aren't any, their absence tells you as much about the limit as a sign would.
2. If there IS a sign, and it reads higher than the NSL for your class of vehicle, that takes precedence.and as far as I know all drivers have had to do a test and read the code too yes?
Just as you did. How long ago? Have you even glanced at the HC since?
Fortunately, it's online (if not very well organised), so you don't even need to spend a quid or three on a paper copy...

The Government produced table of speed limits in the link below may be of interest.

Except whenIf there are no signs and it is in a built up area and there are street lights present (the street lights must be no more than 200 yard apart whether they are on the same or opposite sides of the road) the speed limit is 30mph.0 -

if you had to take a test on the highway code, you wouldnt remember every single thing. fact.
You did have to. That marked the point where you changed from learning the very basics of driving, and had reached a bare minimum competence to be allowed out on your own. It was not intended to be a highpoint of skill, whatever most of your fellow vehicle operators may seem to think.0 -

not that we need to get into details..
i thought it was quite interesting that is all.
I can admit i didnt know at the time that I had to do 50 ( or 10 percent less as informed by the police)
You probably misunderstood the person you spoke to at the police, it's more likely s/he said 10mph less, it's nonsensical for anyone to be talking about a speed limit being 10% less.====0
