New free credit report Clearscore (Equifax)

Just out of curiosity, why are people prepared to allow an unknown company, with a completely unknown track record, access to a large part of their personal credit file?
All you know about the company is this:
Are you part of a bigger company?
No, ClearScore is not owned by anyone else. We have received investment from QED Investors, Brightbridge Ventures and Blenheim Chalcot to create ClearScore.
We are also partnered with Equifax, who provide us with your credit report and score which we then show to you.
It has no track record, no history, no proper credentials - just a trading link with an entirely separate company, Equifax, in the same way that Tesco has a trading link with its suppliers.
Do you not see the risks here - for fraud and misuse of data?
Why do you think this is any riskier that signing up for Noddle? We know who the founders are and they're not people who set alarm bells ringing.0 -

Exactly! I heard alarm bells ringing as soon as I saw an earlier poster state that one of the questions is about your salary!!! Now why would they want to know that, eh?0 -

Quite simply because Noddle is owned by Callcredit, one of the 3 UK credit reference agencies.
ClearScore, however, is a complete unknown. It has no connection with Equifax whatever - though the website might be taken as suggesting that it has.
You're handing all your credit information to an almost unknown company - is that really sensible?
Who We Are
Noddle is part of Callcredit.
Founded in 2000, Callcredit is considered by our customers to be the most innovative of three Credit Reference Agencies in the UK. We now employ over 700 professionals in the UK.
The Group's customers include many of the UK's leading companies, including all of the clearing banks, several major international lenders, media communications businesses, and petroleum, automotive, power and retail organisations. Callcredit helps them to serve and protect their millions of customers in the UK.
Noddle is a trading name of Callcredit Limited. Callcredit Limited is registered in England and Wales with company number 3961870. Registered office: One Park Lane, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS3 1EP.0 -
But it's not an unknown company. Equifax have made positive public statements about their partnership with Clearscore and the founders of Clearscore are respectable execs with a lot of history. One of them is Dan Colby who used to run Google in the UK.0

Why do they speak American on their website?
Why does their "office" look like the inside of a garden shed?
When signing up, why do they want to know your salary and what other irrelevant information do they ask for?0 -

Do they? I haven't noticed. Why does their "office" look like the inside of a garden shed?
EDIT: Ah I've just seen what you mean. What do you expect?! I've worked for some good companies in some rubbish offices. When signing up, why do they want to know your salary and what other irrelevant information do they ask for?
Because they want to use that info to throw the right advertising and 'offers' your way. That's why it's free.0 -

So what could the repercussions be if it was as suspect as people are asking? I've signed up to it but am not savvy enough to know why it would matter.0

At best your personal information could be spread across numerous other companies.
At worst it could be used for fraudulent access to your accounts, along with identity fraud.0
