  • Thanks Blondebubbles.
  • Yes.

On £20,000 you'd get £353, on £21,000 you wouldnt get tax credits.

    Unless childcare/disabilities as mentioned earlier.

The limit is around £20,680 to be more accurate.

    Hi blondebubbles

Is it definitely £20,680 the cut off for tax credits for single parents? I thought the cut off was higher for lone parents. I did a calculation based on my full time salary on "entitled to" a few weeks ago and it said I would still get some tax credits (cannot remember if just CTC or WTC). No childcare or disabilities.

I am thinking about going back full time to work next year but if I will not get any tax credits I will not be any better off than I am now, working part time and claiming tax credits.

Thanks in advance for your help with this query.

blondebubbles I think MSE should create a new badge for most helpful poster which you would win hands down

  • As far as I was aware entitled to was for this year and hadn't been updated for next year. Correct me if I am wrong.

Lone parents and couples with children are treated no different as he lone parent element and couple element are worth the same.

It's about household income so would make no sense to benefit a lone parent earning the same as a couple with children.

Thanks blondebubbles. No entitled to has not got an up to date calculator. I was just trying to get a rough idea of what I would get.

If I go full time next year my full time earnings will be £21,514. I will just have some term time childcare and maybe after school. So I will still receive some help towards childcare?

    Thanks
  • Hi , can anyone help me with housing benefit and council tax. ? .I work part time. Claim tax credits , my income for new yr with £10000 ( if I increase my hours to 27 per week.) On minimum wage ,work 19 at the moment . I can't find anywhere how the changes to tax credits threhold are going to affect this part for ppl ! I've worked out how much I'm gonna lose next yr. Also looked at workin more hours to see if that will make up on what I'm gonna lose. But I really need to know what's going to happen with housing benefit. they really have left us all scratching our heads and wondering . I'm not flash don't own a car . Couldn't afford to run one. Just about to have first family holiday in 11 yrs! Really annoying when ppl think ppl on tax credits are living the high life..! Not so!.
  • Forgot to day I have 2 children both school age .
  • Thanks , I'm new here. Yes , I'm asking if anyone knows about housing benefit and if tax credits threhold drop will affect housing.

Is there a calculator up that includes disabilities yet?

I'm lone parent, work 30 hours per week and earn £23700. Income won't be changing next year. Kids are 16 and 17 but continuing in full time education. Eldest child gets standard rate PIP.

I get quite a lot of tax credits at the moment, but assume I will lose a fair amount from April, would just like to know what so I can start tweaking budget.

Hi wondering if someone could do a calculation for me

I have tried and I'm hoping my figure of 1100 for the year is a bit out.

My partner works 30+ Hours a week and has a salary of 23500 not likely to change next year, We have 2 children 1 at school and 1 at home who I look after full time. What are we likely to receive next year?

    TIA
