Yes you are correct. E.g. Income for 2015/16 £20,000 and 2016/17 £27,100 - Tax credits will be based on £24,600. The full £27,100 would be used from April 2017 (subject to the income for 2017/18).

Thank you, you're as helpful as ever x

It would not surprise me if these cuts turn into Camerons equivalent of Thatchers poll tax fiasco, few were concerned about that until the bills arrived and then the s@it hit the fan.
Not many properly understand what's coming, they soon will!

I still wonder if it will actually happen,
It's so poorly thought out its unbelievable.
The new threshold for wtc/ctc is lower than a 12 hour per week yearly minimum wage. it's a massive George Osborne style mess!
  • Could somebody please help me work out my entitlement?

I work 16 hours per week, my husband works 37 hours per week with a combined income of around £27500 and we have 3 children, 3 years old and under.

    Thank you
  • Thank you very much! Thats better than I had worked out thank goodness!

I would really appreciate it if someone could work out our award for 2016.

Myself: working full time, £33k income
Hubby: working 18 hours (0 hours contract and self employed), £2.5k income
2 children, currently 3 and almost 1. Childcare costs approx £250 per week (at least until September 2016, when the older one will start school).

    Thank you for your help.

Approx £4793. However that would be based on £250 per week childcare all year round.

Ouch, that's a big drop.

    Thanks!
