    clarification:
I may have misunderstood and the " hitherto unmentioned on these fora" company may have been hafodrenewables.
I would be grateful for comments on solarworld panels please.
    many thanks

Hiya esperluette, hope we haven't confused you too much. My post (and others, I think) related to a newbie (DJ) posting what might have been spam for a company. I added to this with one of my little bugbears that when I looked at the site their FiT and export numbers were out of date. I maintain the FAQs, and it isn't that hard to update them every 3 months or so.

However ..... none of this means that there is anything wrong with the company, it just sets of a few alarm bells. And the PV'ers on here are very protective.

You'd need to get a visit, a breakdown of issues and options, and then post back on here for a chat and opinions. For instance, the quote (so far) doesn't sound too bad.

Regarding SolarWorld, I think they are quite popular, might be wrong but I'm sure I've heard them mentioned several times. Hard to say if they are any good, but all panels for install in the UK are MCS approved, so they should all work fine ...... but only time will tell which work best.

One small caveat. All panels for install under the FIT scheme would be MCS approved. But if panel prices drop much more and the FIT scheme becomes less attractive we may well see ultra cheap panels for DIY installation beginning to appear and some of them may well not be 'approved'. For such an installation to be grid-tied they'd need to be approved by the local DNO (so again should be of acceptable quality) but there are bound to be some cowboys trying to sell non-approved ones.
