Thank you Eric and theboylard, will open a new thread with details, I was under the impression of this being a generic thread to discuss solar quotes, apologies.0

But to stand a better chance of keeping all your replies in one place and not getting too much input on completely different issues it would be best to entitle your thread "Solar Quotes needed for (your nearest large town)" or something similar.

Hiya vivek, as per TBL and Eric, great idea to have your own little thread, with a nice self contained discussion. However, prior to you starting one, here's some info.
Looking at Stirling on PVGIS and splitting your system 6x265Wp South and 9x265Wp SW, I got a generation guesstimate of 3,280kWh pa.
That works out at:
FiT 3,280 @ 12.92p = £424
Export 3,280/2 @ 4.85p = £80
Leccy savings (£80 to £160) = £120
Total £624
I wouldn't consider the Hanergy system, they use lower efficiency panels, which take up more room. Nothing wrong with that idea if you have more room, and they are cheaper, but strangely they seem to keep costing more.
Also Hanergy is in serious trouble at the moment. It's just been delisted from the Hong Kong market, it's shedding nearly 40% of its staff, and sales of panels to its parent company have fallen 90% this year.
I think £5,630 is a great start, if you can get it down to £5k'ish all the better, but for a split system install ..... pretty good.
Regarding Solis, they are Chinese, though that doesn't mean they aren't any good. They are very cheap at around half the price of a SMA. They tick most of the boxes:Solis 3.6kW Dual MPPT

Solis inverters are compact and light for easy installation and include numerous protection functions to give the end user peace of mind. This inverter is suitable for domestic use.
although a 10 year warranty would be nicer. [Edit: the 5yr warranty can be extended to 20yrs for £400. M.]

Hi guys
Im based in West Yorks Bradford/keighley area. Any good panel companies? Budget £5500 for 4K
Thks0 -
Well I have tried 5 companies now to do a small install on my garage roof, and one has quoted £3300 and the other 4 declined to quote saying not financially viable. Do they not realise there are people out there that don't do it just for the return.Living in supposedly sunny Kent

How small is small? My installer was happy to do me an additional 1.75kWp. Clearly the on-costs are high compared to the component costs but that should be for you to consider/swallow, not for them to worry about.
I assume you have DNO approval to go over 3.68kWp?0 -

I had the very same problems with my WNW extension, as I was expecting an ROI of about 4%*. Also at the time the 6 or so installers I spoke to on the phone all told me they weren't interested as the DNO wouldn't allow it. I rang the DNO and got a verbal ok from them (they need a registered sparkie to apply before they'll give a written ok).
After that I just kept ringing around till I found a company willing to do it. They travelled from Rochdale to Cardiff. Nice guys.
I still chuckle at all the e-mails I got from EDF when verifying the FiT rules. They always slipped in a caveat that it really wasn't a good idea to install a small (expensive) system on a WNW roof, and I should think again. They obviously thought I was mad, they're probably right.
*SolarEdge shade mitigation to the rescue, and an actual ROI of about 7%, perhaps 8% with additional leccy savings.

I have had a survey for solar PoV, my property faces 200deg South, my roof can accommodate 8 solar panels, I have been quoted just shy of 5 Grand for the entire installation. How does this compare?, I live in North Wales.0

Run, very fast, in the other direction.
That is a silly price.
If you want to investigate more, I'd suggest you start your own thread with a rough idea of location, roof size, maybe even a pic of the roof?
Have a look at some of the recent quote threads and see the info others have provided, unlike a salesman we have nothing to gain but the satisfaction that we've possibly saved you a few quid!4kWp, SSE, SolarEdge P300 optimisers & SE3500 Inverter, in occasionally sunny Corby, Northants.

Hi Dafydd,
5000 seems a bit on the high side for a 2 kw system. A good guide we use is £1800 per kw so a 2kw systen should work out around the £3800 mark, hope this helps.0
