Funfairprincess, definitely not heard winterdyke before! I love the local names that people have for things in different parts of the country!Every act of kindness, no matter how small, isn’t wasted ❤️

I find language fascinating. The very first time I saw you use the term "winterdyke", FFP, I knew exactly what you meant but had to look up its derivation. Wikipedia informs Sassenachs: 'A winterdyke or winter-dyke is a Scots word for a clothes horse used in drying clothing indoors. The word "dyke" means a wall or a fence made without mortar that was occasionally used for hanging laundry in the summer months. Hence the winter dyke used specifically for the colder weather months.' You've really taken me back to my childhood when two big wooden clothes horses stood in front of our kitchen stove, laden with all the week's washing. Nowadays, if the weather's fine I hang mine out on the whirligig, or, if not, I use the TD - how unromantic is that!
Not a lot got done yesterday except that I decluttered 3lb at SWand spent the afternoon at my vol job.
Today I must clean through the house, do some paperwork and get to U3A Family History on the bus, as I've given DH use of the car all day - saves me an hour's driving, though the bus ride there and back will eat that up again.

Morning all
My plan to do HHI yesterday ended up with me clearing the pile and that took a lot longer :rotfl: That meant I ended up running late for work and then other little things cropped up and I ended up not getting anything else done all day! DD washed up, and even cooked pasta for tea when she got home then came out to work with me eventually. We didn't get in until 9.45pm so we're both shattered today, and she needs to be in school by 7.30am tomorrow so its early nights here!!
My head is still groggy today but hopefully some painkillers will help. Plan for today is to run out to work (once my phone is fully charged) then WM can do its thing while I do my tax return, renew tax credits, update accounts, fly (possibly the bedrooms as well while I'm at it), take DD to Mr A for lunch stuff for tomorrows school trip (I have price guarantee vouchers to cover some of the cost), sort a decent evening meal and be in bed by 9pm. I will also be playing my music or TV loud as next door have workmen in and the drilling/hammering/sawing is driving me insane already!
Summer challenges:
Repaint Livingroom & finish decorating it
Fasten backs on to all the bookcases properly
Decorate kitchen / bathroom (should be able to do these at the same time as its basically painting in both)
Decorate DD's bedroom
Decorate my bedroom
Decorate hall/stairs/landing
Purge DD's school work, file away stuff she no longer needs and put into files stuff she might need during her GCSE's!
Scan old documents then shred
Put all files back on my computer

bossy can you make some scones / biscuits / rice krispy things and take them in later for the party?
Daily stuff done
Light shades washed and put back
General dusting done
Im working, chick. So I can't be in either the kitchen or going back to school. they said not to worry as there is plenty of food despite a number of parents telling me they didn't know either.
Asked DS teacher if there was a party or non-uniform day and she didn't know, but will find out today for us. I reminded her that requests for a specific colour tshirt the night before sports day wasn't ideal to ensure all kiddies feel included. I know it's not the teachers - it's the office, they are like my @rse at the moment with communication :cool:Bossymoo

Oh and mine is an airer, but my mum used to say "the rack" and we knew what she meant. But also know the term maiden too. I'm yorkshire...Bossymoo

Hi all x
So glad I'm educating you all in the Scots dialect. If Piggers was here she'd call me a foreigner :rotfl: next class will be the two or three phases of Gaelic that i can speak :rotfl:
So far today I have....
Got out of bed at 11am  to be fair I was up earlier but it was too early so went back to bed.
Took bedding off all the beds
Washed and flung mine on the line
Reloaded Wm with DDs bedding
Gathered laundry from various rooms
Played frisbee with Mr Mac

Just going to square the living room up now if anyone wants to join me for HHC at 1.30pm ?I'm not a muggle...I'm just magically challenged0
