  • Morning all,

Hope things are going okay for everyone. I just checked my Noodle Credit Report as it was updated today. My MBNA Card is no longer listed, it was sold to PRA Group who SC are paying but its not listed. Also my Halifax credit Card is still showing as Halifax, but that has been with Wescot Credit Services for a while. Nothing appears under closed on Noodle, anyone shed any light on why its showing the above and MBNA completely gone, given they are the biggest credit debt seems odd.
    Thanks

I'm sorry you're having problems with Noodle but I'm not really surprised because my report is full of inaccuracies. I've lost all faith in them and am seriously considering deleting them from my laptop.

I had a serious query and contacted them online but didn't get any response. Then, a full 3 weeks later I received a letter through the post from them telling me that the company I'd queried couldn't do anything about the situation. The worst bit was that the company Noodle mentioned is not the company that I complained about and is a company I've never had any dealings with. And after a tedious check online it's shown to have no connection whatsoever with 'my' company:eek:.

I don't think they have a clue what's going on. I take anything that we get for free with a pinch of salt nowadays;)

Hi all, been on dump for 2.5 years and all going smoothly......until boiler packs up!!! Nightmare.... Rang stepchange who advised to try and get credit for a boiler replacement...errrrr....have u seen my credit report? Other than that she couldn't advise anything. We don't claim any benefits so don't qualify for a grant. So I'm panicking now.... No where near enough in emergency fund after having car repairs last month and no family to borrow from? Anyone any ideas ? Really struggling to stay positive now
LBM Dec 2012 total debt 33,889 :eek:dmp started March 2013 DFD Dec 2024

  • Hi Mossop, someone with more experience will be able to advise you better than I can but I'm sure I've read on here somewhere that for emergencies like this you can make a few months of token payments, as long as your creditors are aware. I may be wrong as I would have thought SC would have suggested this to you and apologies if I am but I remember thinking that is what we would have to do in that event. The emergency fund certainly seems to be elusive at the minute!!!!

  • So sorry to hear about your predicament, Mossop.

First of all, don't panic. I'm sure what Scaredofdebt told you is correct, I know several posters have mentioned making token payments when emergencies crop up. After all, being on a DMP means credit is pretty much impossible to come by and most credit card accounts have been frozen:(

I'm worried that you've been given poor advice and support by SC on this occasion:( and it might be worth waiting until someone who knows more about this situation than me reports in with their words of experience. Then you can phone SC again armed with the knowledge of all possibilities of what you need to do.

    Sending all positive vibes:kisses3:
  • Hi Mossop,

As others have said, I'm sure you can make token payments for a period of time to allow you to sort your boiler out. I've seen several people do the same thing over the years.

I'm sure someone who has done this will come along and advise you.

The main thing is not to panic, there will be a solution.

    Take care

Thanks for the response, I am thinking exactly what you have said, they really don't seem to know whats going on. I might wait till start of next year and a do one of those monthly free trials with one of the bigger companies just to see whats what.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Mossop01,
I know this isn't exactly the same as your current situation, but we have had to reduce our monthly payment dramatically since my OH became unemployed again, that's now been 4 months, and so far we have not had any negative contact from our creditors. Workout how much to get a replacement and then ring SC and explain the situation and the need to go on reduced payments a time. Hope it works out okay.

    Hi Mosspo,

So sorry to hear of the stress your are having, i understand how stressful it is when you've no-options to borrow to cover crisis.

Is your boiler fixable or a complete write off, might be worth asking another plumber to take a look, a friend of mine has been really ripped off by plumbers who fitted her new boiler and I suspect it may not have even needed replacing now, but we'll never know!

If it's just a matter of covering the repairs, you will need to contact SC to tell them you are dropping payments, depend how much you pay them though, I only pay £100 not sure how I'd find the money to pay the repairs, suppose I'd have to use the OD but might not be enough.

If it's find the money to pay for a new boiler, I'm guessing you must have a mortgage? Maybe you could ask them to remortgage or extend your term with reduced payments or something? Can't see many other options for you I'm afraid unless there is something you could sell, or check with your firm and or union to see if they have any emergency funds you could borrow. If you can manage with other forms of heat and hot water a while perhaps you could try a credit union, but you usually have to save a while with them before you can borrow.

Finally there are some people on DMP who have found very expensive credit cards that they've used sensibly to build their credit, although I don't even qualify for one of those, so depends on your status and you'll only find out by applying, then you'd use your reduced SC payments to found the repayments on It I guess, although that doesn't seem fair to other creditors so I'd talk to SC of you find that option available to you.

Sorry I don't have the answer but hope You find some way through it, and you know we'd love to know how you are getting on.

    Xx

Sorry but I must step in to Noddle's defence :o.

I have recently had to be credit checked in connection with work . I have had my head in the sand for about three years and not wanted to see my credit files. I thought 'I am doing what I can to pay debts and I can't help what is on there so to hell with it.'

Finally comes the day I have to start to take it seriously.......SO wincing and cringing.......I got my files with all three Equifax / Experian / CallCredit. I satisfied my work requirements, I am happy and now feel I am not pushing anything under the carpet :).

Coming back........all of the information on Noddle is from their parent, CallCredit. It is as good as any! That isn't to say its totally accurate and I have fired off four letters of complaint to various predators for what they have failed to report / update not just on Noddle but on the others too.

Whilst everybody hates CRA's, a lot of the issues are down to the predators cucking up and not errors and ommissions by the CRA's.

Now I have gone through this exercise (which almost killed me) I will use Noddle going forward for free to keep an eye on things - the service is as good as any and their presentation and ease of access is the best.

Just another point.....not all predators report to all 3 CRA's. However most (not all) do report to CallCredit and if so the account scan be viewed on Noddle.

    Have a great day,

    Brogden
