    Hi everyone

Gosh it's quiet on my favourite thread this week:eek:

Being positive - that must mean everyone is doing really well;)

Letter from SC today advising Lloyds Bank have rejected our payment offer. The same letter says don't worry, do nothing, SC will keep paying. Do Lloyds Bank realise the futility of not accepting then:rotfl: Still, I suppose they need to do this pointless step to allow them to move the debt along their numerous processes to the point of selling it on to a DCA. Please hurry up then:D

Other than that life is going well in the January household. I will 'swear' now, and note that Christmas is coming (sorry for any of you or aren't yet able to face that well know fact yet;)). I'm feeling really organised. Only a few pressies left to buy and money for those budgeted already:T We are away with family for Christmas Day and Boxing Day and therefore I am not buying any Christmas food until after that - when the 'goodies' will be reduced anyway. I have budgeted £50 for Christmas food - that includes meat, veg, posh cheeses (yuk, but DH loves them), cakes and sweets etc. I should say that is £50 in addition to our normal weekly shop. I feel a bit guilty but we have numerous grandchildren who will be visiting and I want to enjoy the festive period.

Hope everyone is keeping well

    Well that's a nice surprise.

I wrote a letter to creation and copied it to the FSA about my interest.

The FSA said (as expected) there was nothing they could do until Creation had been given a chance to respond but had contacted Creation to let them know anyway.

Today I received a letter for each of the 3 accounts and Creation have frozen the interest on all 3 for 6 months.

That was worthy of the letters, great news.

I know sometimes folk don't understand about depression and how it can effect your reactions to debt. Whilst I don't think I'm depressed. I've had some serious stress recently and found that I've done things I just don't recall doing, like moving money from one account to another. I'm sure at the time it made sense but just 2 weeks later I have no recollection of doing it nor why. So I think it's highly understandable decisions made when suffering from depression or any other mental health issue, can be inappropriate.

Let's see what Saturday's post brings :rotfl:
Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

  • Hi just after s bit of advice please I'm about four months in to my dmp and I've already had to reduce my payment due to my gas and electric going up.. Anyway I have a payment due on the 18th but within the space of two weeks my tumble dryer washing machine and cooker have all decided to pack in... I've emailed stepchange to explain but just wondered what the consequence of a late payment would be? I could pay on the 26th but then all payments would need to be on this date or is it better to make a reduced payment on the 18th? Many thanks!

Phone SC up - don't 'wait' for them to read your email, and sit worrying yourself. They are really supportive and will talk you through the situation and allay your worries.

    It gets better.

Today I received another 3 letters saying the complaint has not been upheld, however as a gesture of goodwill they are refunding 6 years worth of charges, 6 months worth of interest and giving me 0% interest for the next 12 months.

Next months bills will show a total of £453.04 credited :)
The way things are going, soon we are all going to be victims of something or other.

    Who will we blame then?

Great news, and proof that persistence pays off:T. Well done:beer:

    Debt-free and Proud!
Thanks everyone for your encouragement and good wishes!

Got through the weekend without any mishaps, although the roofing felt on the chicken coop got ripped off by the strong winds last night. Made a temporary repair until I can get some more roofing felt. Yes Christmas will be a lot less stressful this year, although we have already decided on a budget to stick to and resisting the temptation to go on a spending binge. Even though I will be debt free OH still has two outstanding debts so we will be concentrating on paying those off. Still excited though at the prospect of me being debt free:D

Debt free date 25/11/2015 - Made It!
  • Just thought I’d check into the thread as it’s been a while, you’re all doing so well!

Me & MR LSP got married last month, low budget so it fit around the DMP, but had the most amazing time – it went by so fast! Back to earth with a bump and the plans to pre-emptively save for Xmas went out of the window, but we’re going to keep the present costs down one way or another. There will be no borrowing!

Checked the DMP last statement and it’s down to 16.5k now, which still seems massive but I acknowledge that it’s around 8k less than it started at so that’s awesome in the last 18 months or so. Trying to maintain positivity, and keep on trucking, though our rental house is driving us mad; there’s no issue with the landlord / letting agent (very responsive in a timely fashion) but it’s an old house and it gets a lot of damp. C’est la vie!

We’re wishing the DMP on at the moment, as we’d love to get a mortgage and move into our own place – but of course with defaults in the last 18 months and one account not yet defaulted my credit score is through the floor, and poor Mr has no credit history whatsoever. We could get a wonderful house on a mortgage for what we’re paying in rent now, such is life – and moving to another rental is out of the question presently as they’d need over a grand up front for bonds etc. That’s a 20% of a house deposit, which seems wasteful. (let’s not think about what some of that debt went on!)

Onwards and downwards, hopefully after Xmas I’ll be able to put the DMP up again, and bring that DF date down. The sooner the better!

  • Congratulations on your MSE wedding, lumpyspaceprincess.:happyhear:beer:

    Brilliant username, by the way:rotfl:

I empathise with you over the damp in an old house as we have the same problem and it can be a real pain and quite depressing at times:(
  • I have posted a thread - I am not sure if this is what I am supposed to do. I don't know where it has gone or even if it's in the right place. I have posted as WookyHollow and will retype if this is the place I should be. In short am considering iva as option. I don't own a house nor fancy car and have few assets. I owe 40000 and have to pay 1200 per month towards these credit card and loans. I earn 2300 per month. I have 2 sons who are helping out but am close to maxing out the credit cards I am using for shopping. Any advice please. Thanks
