Scaredofdebt wrote: »Morning everyone. I just wanted to ask for some advice. I had a letter on Saturday from Hfx basically saying pay up or we may...... I then had a statement yesterday from them which says the debt has been passed to collections and call this number if I can not clear the overdue payments, do I need to contact them or just continue as normal? Don't want to not communicate but don't want to ring if not necessary, if that makes sense. Thanks.
Hi,
I would ring them just to reiterate your on a dmp blah blah, collections is presumably in house rather than sold to a dca. All sounds like standard letters but you can put your mind at rest by a quick call. I found Halifax pleasant to deal with on the phone and they were the first to sell my debt to a dca, default and frozen interest.

Thanks Carbootcrazy and Puzz. I've just phoned them and the lady I spoke to didn't really know what I was talking about. I reiterated the dmp ref etc and she said they already knew that and did I want to make an extra payment, I said no and that was it end if call. Guess I will just wait to hear from them again! Ps, I just want to put it out there that I hate my username!! It was during the depths of despair after my LBM that I joined this forum hence the name. Everyone else has so much better usernames!! I can't even use the initials!! Thanks again.

Hi folks, not posted for quite a few months now and hope everyone is doing OK? I've just completed Stepchange yearly review and I'm pleased to say I've paid off £10600 in my first year. My surplus has also increased from £820 per month to £871.
Getting myself all worried again in thinking will creditors except proposals again? Will they decide Charging Orders are the way forward? Had a slight hiccup with avante credit at start on year but dmp been running OK.
Not sleeping....
Worried yet again......0 -
I think that is the worst part of being on a dmp Rooster, the not being quite sure what the creditors next move is going to be. We have been on a dmp for 8 months now and it is the best thing we ever did, ours has run smoothly so far with all interest being stopped but until we are out of it there will always be that nagging feeling that will take over now and again I'm sure. I have definitely learnt not to overthink things and deal with each issue as it arises. Try not to worry about something that might not happen (easier said than done I know).
You however have done brilliantly with your debt busting and it's a great achievement and you have upped your payments. I have just had a pay cut from work so not sure what I'm going to do at my review after Christmas - we can manage our payment now as I have regular overtime which I am hoping will continue!!
Remember well done and try not to worry. I'm sure someone with some more experienced words will reassure you.[STRIKE][/STRIKE]LBM January 2015:(

hi, I am 6 years into an 8 year debt management plan. So almost there (the end is in sight). I checked my Experian credit report today and it is still depressing reading (score of 219) and Very Poor. One of my debts with Northern Rock has been taken on by Calbot Finance and the account is listed as delinquent even though I am making the agreed payments to them (via Stepchange) is this allowed?0

Hi Rooster, I have been in my DMP for six years and so far everything has been fine (such wood!!) - all creditors have been fine with what paying and now only have two main creditors left for the next two years0

Problem is I'm a worrier.....the surplus is good at £871, worried they may start and add interest? Was over reading the charging order thread and getting all worked up about that. ....All creditors have been OK but had a slight bump with Avante Credit when they said they did not receive information even though it was sent 7 times by stepchange. My main worries are Halifax, Nationwide and Barclay Card . I've a feeling since my surplus has gone up they may start and add interest? Barclay do anyway but only a small amount!0

Mine have been fine and not charged interest at all. I had the same concerns and was worried that as creditors started to drop off (as the debts were paid off) that the ones remaining would start to charge interest or be more demanding. 6 years in (and over £52k paid) that hasn't happened yet. Ashamed to say another £20,800 left to go but I have gone from 5 creditors (8 accounts) down to 2 creditors and so far everything has gone really well - my DMP is with Stepchange and they have been great.0 -
I had £53,000 worth of debt and Stepchange estimated that would be repaid in 5 years and 2 months but with paying off nearly £10,600 this year and now paying extra £50 a month from January the estimated time has changed by being debt free 4 months earlier. Fingers crossed all creditors are good to me...0

Now, I will go to bed dreaming it really has been written off, but knowing it more likely has been passed to a DCA. Oh well, one can but dream
