I've got an encouraging letter from BC today saying that if I don't pay by 4th August i'll be defaulted..... fingers crossed! I'm below the magic 1% repayment at the moment so I guess it *could* happen...?

We had the same and we thought 'finally, a default from BC'!! :j

Knowledgable people on here told me to put the champagne on hold and how right they were!!

A few months down the line and we are now on our 3rd letter from BC telling us that if we don't pay by a specific date our account will be defaulted - they just keep moving the goalposts and extending the date we have to repay the arrears by before they default us.

Starting to think it will never happen.............................fingers crossed you have more luck than us :)

    Take care

Yeah I wasn't getting my hopes up BDFSH! It's sounds infuriating... least all my interest has stopped for now. Small victories! :-)

Received letters today refusing my F and F offer of 2 'sold on' debts, not surprised. I offered 10% and they came back with roughly 25% discount. Haven't got that much, so will carry on with my fiver a month. I can wait :D

Just had a thought re me changing banks and claiming the swirching bonus......

My smallest debt is with bank I want to switch to. They have refused my last settlement figure but....... The switching bonus is the equivilant to what I asked the debt to be reduced by. So effectively I would get the discount I wanted

Yes, I will clear the debt first and won't benefit from the extra money but will be another debt gone

Worth a short though zenshi :-)

Could anyone tell me how f&fs work with regards to stepchange and treating creditors fairly.

If I have a lump sum and split that fairly between each creditor and some accept and some don't - would it be classed unfair of me to pay the ones that accept and carry on paying the other ones through my DMP?

To me if I offer each creditor the same % of my debt then I am being fair and its up to them if they accept or not? Not sure where stepchange stand with this though....
