:j:j:j:j DMP update day... I have now paid off 30.1% :j:j:j:j
Still love my dmp....
Since going self managed in March, 3 of my original creditors have passed me/sold me on, so now 5 of my cc debts are with dca's. They are no bother, well not so far.. The latest to join my club is Westcot.... They have taken over one of my biggest debts which is also my oldest.. I feel a cca coming on later in the year...
Hope all well in dmp land..

So.. a recap...
In summer 2013 I finally admitted defeat, I couldn't do this anymore.. I was paying over £1400 a month for debts and had been for many years.. I first had a credit card in 1980 and never learnt how to use them properly... So roll on to 2013... Having been a member of mse since 2008 I had never heard of dmp's.. But in my darkest place I discovered the dmp mutual support thread, and read, and read and read... I had found my answer.. at last.....£60062 in debt...
So started with Stepchange and took back control in March this year.. debts still going down, all interest free and have fought a good fight with one or two...i have also been paying down a loan from lovely mother for consolidating pre my dmp obviously.. this now stands at 6.5 payments left..
Now I know I could pay this off a lot quicker, but.. I have decided I need to live as well so am taking the scenic route.. Since starting I have been on holiday with my dd and had 2 lovely trips with my lovely mother, in fairness she does fund a lot of that.. I do run an old car.. 15 years old but hanging on... and my house needs lots of work.. but do you know what.. who cares... I will patch the car up until I can't anymore and the house can wait until I have finished my dmp... dd is off to uni (probably) this Autumn and I will need to help fund her, but my loan to lovely mother will nearly be done and I have put some money away to assist in the first 3 months..
I have 2 Bank accounts, both have saving accounts attached and I have savings for everything.. I top them up as soon as I get paid and I only use them for what they are titled.. eg; car, birthdays, Christmas, holidays, rac, etc etc...
Everyone does it differently, there is no right or wrong way to manage your dmp.. it is yours and if you want to sprint then go for it, if like me you are tired after 33 years of scrimping then do the marathon route and live a little..
I started this journey with £60062 of debt.. l now owe just over £42k, still a long way to go but its going and the light at the end of the tunnel is beginning to glimmer... I still have 70 months to go, but 30+ have gone as has 30% of debt...:T
Anyway waffle over, just felt like having a catch up...
Good luck to anyone starting a dmp, or currently on the journey.. this is the best thread on mse and we are all here for each other in dmp land..

credit card agreement
Your creditors must be able to present these to you when asked, if they cannot they will be unable to force anything like a CCJ on the account. The money is still owed but they cannot chase you through the courts for it.0 -
