Evening all. Congrats Zenshi on nearly getting under - it's still a massive achievement.

We've done our first lot of token payments and had my 1st letter from 1 of creditors today, asking for us to send in our SOA so they can decide our payment plan. We're going self managed and I want to do another 2 months of token payments (and hopefully make them default us) - should I just ignore this letter.....or wait a good while and write back to them and say we will send another token payment in the interim?

    Ta muchly.

YOU decide on how much you can afford, not them! Send them your I and E that reflects the amount you want to pay 😉

Ah I'd be the same, but you'll get it next month as you say. Every single pound is a countdown to that magical debt-free date, be proud of how well you're doing! :T

The advice at the time from my DMP co. (DFH) was not to include the sum i pay my sister every month (£270) as it would cause problems with my creditors.

    Hi Halenism,

STOP PAYING FOR YOUR DMP RIGHT NOW.

That's it in big letters, but seriously, fee charging DMP companies are simply bottom feeders preying on people in need.

Seriously contact Stepchange or Payplan and they will do exactly the same without charging you a fee.

Personally I do it all myself and its all interest free and I have so much control.

CCA agreement landed on doorstep today from Bcard through link. Although I would rather they hadn't found it, it puts the one I received from T***o look totally not right

Beautifully put:T:T. If only we could advertise the way the fee grabbing companies do.

I have been starting to feel a bit better and more in control lately, maybe I'll make the step and go self managed later in the year.....

    Hmmm interesting

I just decided to check my SC statement: don't usually as the figures are usually incorrect, and noticed that what was my BoS CC debt is now listed as Lloyds debt. Need to be careful here as don't want to find some offset going on, though I don't bank with Lloyds.

Does anyone else find that all they think about it paying off debts? It's become an obsession of mine to a point where i think it's getting unhealthy. It all I seem to talk about.

    Hi Spoon

When I first started, my dmp consumed me, I thought it about it constantly, researched and read as much as I could about different scenarios to try and prepare me for what might be ahead. One year in, I am not as bad but do still spend alot of time thinking about it, even though its easier month to month being on a dmp, its still a huge weight knowing we owe that much money.

Sazzie, do you think you will go self managed? Sometimes I think I would like to but I have this theory that if going via Stepchange, creditors/dca less likely to take me to court as SC are confirming to them I am paying as much as I can
I know people on here will disagree but its just how I personally feel right now but maybe one day I will be brave enough to go it alone :D
