Evening all. Having a panic. We're just going self managed - I've set up token payments to go out tomorrow, letters went off a few days ago.
Just having a feeling of impending doom, in that they may not have got the letters (sent 2nd class - didn't even think about doing recorded).....and that this will be the first time that we've ever missed payments and I guess they will add charges etc. A reality moment that I am not enjoying. I could do private messages with 2 of the CC's....or should I just chill, and wait for it all to unfold?

Too new to all this to help the last few posters with your queries - sorry.

Rambling should be my name today!

    Hi Rambles

Breathe matey, you're having a wobble, it'll. be OK. They add charges, complain, and never having missed a payment makes them more likely to chase you as I think they see payers as an easy target sometimes. Won't make a joy of difference to your credit file. Feel up to answering calls, talk to them, don't want to? Ignore them, you've declared your problem and made an offer of payment, it'll get sorted, rushing it doesn't help (see CBC above😦)

Well, feeling a bit glum at the moment:(

I know defaults are good but at this stage I'm not too sure. Maybe it's better than the AP marker already on my credit file for that account because it would mean about 10 years to drop off. At least with a default now it only means it will take 6. Am I understanding this correctly please?

Well done to all who have made progress in the war with their creditors:T. Big hugs to anyone worried or struggling at the moment:kisses3:

Wow CBC, reading your post I think, how brilliantly you've done in 3 years sticking to that finely cut budget, and you've made it through recent expensive outlays without incurring more debt too:T:T

Have a couple of years low repayments then maybe get right back on track with some extra payments to boost your DFD ?

Re the late default, have you considered complaining, there have been a few reported backdated defaults from this forum, this would mean the default date gets backdated and will drop off 6 years from the earlier date, and you're right, either way is better than an AP.

Hi all, hope everyone is well.
Apologies not been around much but June has been such a busy month :) We have just got back from a few days holiday on a Haven site. I had saved spending money throughout the year using 1% scheme - loose change, ebay selling, money left over from grocery budget etc. The end result was we did not spend a penny more than we had for it, we actually budgeted in the first place (!) and we all including my two young children had a wonderful time away together :money:

I have a quick query now. A few months ago when checking noddle I noticed that on DH's record, he had our joint loan listed twice. I sent an email to them regarding it. Now it has disappeared completely from both his credit file and mine. Obviously the debt is still there and we are paying it - do I need to use another credit reference agency now? No idea what's happened.

    Many thanks
    Tx

I know today has been a momentous day in a good or bad way depending on your thoughts, and some will be anxious about what will happen economically and the effects it might have.

I can't pretend to have a clue about what will follow in the coming days, but don't panic, it's a change, we've all dealt with change before and we'll get through it, and for once , we are 'all in it together', well we are here anyway.

I liken it to the thoughts of impending doom some posters on here have for missing one credit card payment.

They imagine the sky's will fall in, the seas will rise, the ice caps will melt, and hell and fury will travel the earth, that's what the remain camp would of had you believe anyway.................when in reality, non of that will happen, the sun has risen, the day is warm, and we are on the way to being a free nation once more, and I love it !!!

Plodding on here building up the overpayment fund to clear the next debt in our DMP, currently have £401 towards the £1230, pretty pleased with that.

So tempted to use some of our emergency fund, BUT hubby will more than likely need a new car in the near future and we're landlords so need funds for emergencies/mortgage so I feel justified keeping hold of that for now.

Kept well within budget this week so may be able add some more money to the kitty from the food budget too.

Has anyone had the same experience with BC? I guess I could contact them and find out -but thought I'd ask here first.

Said many times throughout this forum. BC work in % of debt and your monthly payment. You will have to go self managed and drop your payments to £1.

Is literally the only way, they will not even bat an eyelid, they will put you on a unofficial plan interest free and the default will eventually follow.

We did this on 2 barclaycards and one is defaulted now, but the other isn't even though it was promised last September.

Both have been interest free though since we went self managed so default not massively important.

Well, the last few days have been interesting. Sprained my ankle being stupid (tried to break a bit of wood for the fire by stomping on it and it didn't break) I paid off the last £158 of my credit card which leave me with just two more debts to sort out. Just won £90 on Iceland beating England.

Sorry to hear about the busted ankle, but at least financially things are looking up :T
