Whilst I'm trying to get back up to speed on this forum - I have a query about the various markers we get on our credit file.

I mentioned in my ' I'm back' post a few days ago that Barclaycard are the only creditor not to have stopped, or even reduce, interest. My hubby has two debts (had two cards) with them and looking at his credit file they've placed various markers on it over the years we've been in the DMP - ranging from AP (arrangement to pay) to DM (debt management) -but obviously no default.

Also the entry on 'Noddle' shows the status of these accounts as 'up-to-date' - which they are because again, as I mentioned in the previous post, BC keep matching the minimum payt to the amount they receive from SC.

Now - my query is, when these are paid are they then likely to default? Can they default even? I'm relaxed about DFs because we need them on, sooner rather than later (as we know), but I'll be right peeved if they stick one on at the end.

Has anyone had the same experience with BC? I guess I could contact them and find out -but thought I'd ask here first.

Phone numbers can be blocked, letters straight in the recycle bin.

Just got my first default today. Which is great, do I have to wait till they sell it on or could I try to start the F n F process now?

Evening all. Having a panic. We're just going self managed - I've set up token payments to go out tomorrow, letters went off a few days ago.
Just having a feeling of impending doom, in that they may not have got the letters (sent 2nd class - didn't even think about doing recorded).....and that this will be the first time that we've ever missed payments and I guess they will add charges etc. A reality moment that I am not enjoying. I could do private messages with 2 of the CC's....or should I just chill, and wait for it all to unfold?

Too new to all this to help the last few posters with your queries - sorry.

    Hi,
I am no expert in full and finals but understand you get a better deal the older the debt is and preferably passed to a dca.

Wow, I get busy with life and I come back on here to find I have about 15 pages to catch up on. Will get to that shortly but just wanted to copy and paste part of what I have just posted on my diary because it is thanks to people on here we decided to go self-managed and claim CCAs.
Been a wee while since I last posted anything because basically I've had nothing to report until now.

Debts - PPI complaint with RBS for a Lombard loan has been upheld and they are offering over £2000 back. Unfortunately the small print states they will pay towards debt first then refund anything left over so basically we won't see any of that but at least that is the equivalent of 10 months I think off our debt free date - very quick calculation - need to do a proper one. We haven't been making payments to any of the accounts that have not responded to our CCA requests so the debt total hasn't officially gone down but unofficially if they can't find CCAs then it has gone down by quite a bit. Only 3 of our 9 cheques have been cashed, one was returned as they were not the company to deal with it but the company they forwarded the request on to have not done anything further.

Idem who are actually dealing with the Lombard debt were the first to find the CCA so I suppose reducing that debt this way is a help. Barclaycard who were unable to find a CCA and admitted it was unenforceable have passed the debt on to their debt recovery agent who have sent a couple of letters stating they will sell the debt to a debt collection agency if we do not pay the balance - carry on folks, carry on :rotfl:

Right, don't think I'll get all 15 pages read tonight but I'll make a bloody good start :D

    Hi Spoonhead,

I think there is an f&f thread on the DFw somewhere. My understanding is that you get a better deal with a DCA as they've probably bought the debt for a pittance.
