MBNA and Tesco both defaulted me pretty much as soon as DMP started (just over 3 years ago:j). I hadn't discovered this thread then so in my ignorance I thought defaults were the end of the world:o. How things change eh, I'm ecstatic about them now:rotfl:
Only Lloyds out of my 6 creditors hasn't defaulted me but after having to resort to reduced payments for 3 months earlier this year when pretty much everything I depend on (car, washing machine, cooker, even my spectacles) either died or needed urgent 'surgery', not to mention the huge and unexpected vet bills for the cat:eek:) they've sent me 2 letters threatening a default:mad:. I don't want it NOW, I've only 3.5 years of the DMP to go and should have a clear/clean credit file before it ends.
If they insist I'll just have to see if they'll backdate it but knowing Lloyds they certainly won't do anything to help:(0 -

Hi cbc,
How are Lloyds currently Marking your credit file on a monthly basis? If ap/ar markers they hang around for 6 years from when the debt is settled.

Thanks everyone - really helpful.
I've written first letter and gave a token payment - heard nothing from Tesco loan at all, and had SOA requests from MBNA and Virgin.
Really don't want to get a CCJ so will play it by ear I think and offer a couple more months token payments and keep my fingers crossed they default me ASAP.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Hi CBC,
They probably haven't defaulted you yet. I had loads of default notices where the default didn't actually happen for months.
I suggest you call them and ask them how far behind you are and what needs to be paid to put it off or stop it altogether. It's up to you because SC would tell you to ignore the whole thing and you would be defaulted when they get around to it.
Don't rely on backdating as it almost certainly won't happen - their computer is probably not wrong with the calculations.
You may want to ignore the threat in the default notices but if you are trying to get your credit file on track asap then you may want to have a plan with your payments and increase payments to them at the expense of other creditors to stop the default from happening. It all depends on how important it is to you to protect your credit file.
Sorry....these are only options. SC will not help us to improve our credit files and I let the whole lot cave in so don't ask me.

Hey lovelies.
NCO are managing my Littlewoods and Very debts and I got two letters from them - one for each debt - saying that another letter will follow in about 5 days. That was about 2-3 weeks ago and I haven't heard anything. They did ask me to email them if I was on a DMP, which I did twice (again one for each debt as it was two slightly different email addresses) but I haven't had a reply so I have no idea what's going on.
Do they have a record of not replying?!2019 Wins

It's certainly crazy! What makes it more so is the fact that I have a mortgage with them that I recently switched to a better rate...they knew of my debts. One of said debts is actually with them but it's a small one that I plan to pay off completely using the switching bonus as part of mu payment.
While some may say it's not ethical, I have done nothing wrong. I answered their question truthfully to their wording
I am not going to have an overdraft even if it's offered and never want credit cards again LOl
It's not unethical, you answered the question honestly. No formal arrangements....full stop0 -

As you say, they already 'know' you as you have other products with them. Maybe they didn't bother to credit check this time. I expect I'm being unsuccessful because I'm trying new banks etc that have to credit check people they have no knowledge of.
I'm very chuffed for you, well done:j:beer::T
Not offended at all and I wasn't suggesting that you implied the unethical bit. Even to me, it's a fine line but we do feel we can get away with sometimes.LBM.....sometime in 2013 £27,056. 10 creditors

Hi Ramble,
It really is random. I had 2 debts with MBNA, one was defaulted really early on, the other took about 18 months I think..first one was sold on, second one doesn't seem to have been ...who knows what goes on in creditor world?

My partner has a historic debt that Cabot have recently purchased. It's due to be 6 years since the default on Oct 1st.
She has requested proof of the debt via email but hadn't explicitly requested the CCA. Does another email need be sent with the correct wording?4.29kWp Solar system, 45/55 South/West split in cloudy rainy Cumbria.0 -

Brogden, I'm sorry to keep banging on about this:o but I was wondering if you could please shine a bit of light on what exactly constitutes 'formal' in a debt programme if a DMP is not considered to be so.
These were the questions question Zenshi was asked to answer:
'ThE application for the bank account had a box asking.....have you any CCJ, are bankrupt or in a formal debt programme.
As everyone on here states a DMP is not formal , I ticked the no box'
You seem very knowledgeable about all things DMP and the info might prove very useful if I or anyone else on here ever need to fill in any such forms;)0
