If anyone wants the details of the Lady Magazine comp, please send me you email address. I have scanned the pages from the magazine and can send it as a pdf or jpg. I don't think I can attach it to this thread or I'd do that. There are too many details to type it all here.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Ok this is probably whay off the mark but here goes . . . .This website publishes "erotic fiction" http://www.desire.co.uk/fantasies_fs_1.htmlThe blurb says . . .
In every issue of Desire, we publish eight or more torrid tales from our shameless readers, who come clean and share their intimate carnal fantasies and most wanton sexual pleasures, telling it like it is, or how they would really like it to be. Select from the menu on the left.(We pay 40 pounds for every fantasy published at 1,000 to 2,200 words, so if you would like yours to appear in Desire, email it to us at editorial@moondancemedia.co.uk. Please supply your full name and address, which will not be published).Like I said probably whay off the mark but if any of you can spin off a quick "tordid tale" then you could bag yourself an easy £40.00 :jLet me know if this post is not the kind of thing your after and I will delete it !!!T xx0 -
Tashja, well, it's got me interested! lol. I've never really thought about trying to write erotic fiction, don't even know if I could or not... but hey, if it could bag me £40, I think I might have a go
there's no harm in trying something, right?
Doubt we would be able to share 'ideas' on this thread though eh? lol!"Your life is what your thoughts make it"

I subscribe (by mail) to a writing magazine for women, called Mslexia, and it's one of the best writing magazines I've found. It comes out quarterly and in each issue they give a theme for the next issue, with an open request for submissions.
The magazine has a good website, with submission guidelines here (link). The theme for the next issue is 'gloves' (closing date September 14th) and the following issue's theme is 'zoo' (closing date December 14th).
The site also features some great writing workshops, which you can find here (link). They're good for inspiration

How are you all getting on? I must admit I've scribbled down lots of ideas but haven't been writing as much since my initial burst of enthusiasm - work etc keeps getting in the way!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Hiya everyone,
Just thought you might be interested to know that this month's Writing Magazine (the one with Lynn Truss on the cover) has their annual competitions supplement with it - it lists all the 07/08 writing competitions with their requirements and entry details, well worth buying the mag for!

Hi all,
Just found this thread and am getting sucked in by your enthusiasm! I recently bought a book called "The five minute writer" which has got little topics/exercises to get you started on - I've done a couple and then got overtaken by life. Must try and keep going.
I won a competition for writing a short story as a child (about another planet which had slaves
) and got a poem (on period pain :rotfl: ) published in a nationwide schools anthology when I was a teenager - was so embarrassed that they picked that one! I had an overexcited feminist English teacher who was into realism!.
My real life job is not creative at all and it is slowly chewing me up and spitting me out ...so I do think I need a creative outlet.
Seaxwyn - I have pm'd you with a request for the Lady details too although I may well be too late realistically as time is getting short.

HI Sparkly - I have sent you the details. I had to chuckle at the poem about period pains! A worthy subject for poetry!
Just a reminder for anyone that was interested, the Lady competition closes on 7 October. I haven't written my story yet... is anyone doing better?
I found another competition for Londoners - write a 300 words-or-less piece about a real London street. Prize = £400 Foyles vouchers.
