Noddle - Three Digit Credit Score Now Free

How can your score be worse? Mid 600's is high on the chart I have.0
-
It's worse in the context that it's the same as someone who has 2/5.
So it could be interpreted that I've done the equivalent of drop 60% of my "score".
However, it's all clearly arbitrary.0 -

I can't explain that.
So because there is something clearly wrong with theirs, you decide to align your's with there's???..............weird logic. So it could be interpreted that I've done the equivalent of drop 60% of my "score".
Yes I'd ignore it, but relating your with someone's who's banding is clearly suspect is a very strange thing to do.0 -
So, being curious, I decided to email Noddle to thank them for their lovely gift of a free credit score and asking them what the total score was out of. (I had been assuming around 700 or so based on what other people were posting as good to excellent scores). I wasn't asking for the score bandings, just the top number.
Here is the response i received yesterday, in my mind proving that you are given a completely arbitrary number depending on their mood -
Thanks for your email, and I’m sorry it’s taken me a while to get back to you.
I’m unable to divulge specific details about our scoring criteria or our ratings scale but, as part of the Noddle Improve service, we do display a rainbow bar which shows you where your score places you.
Unfortunately we aren’t able to give specific indications of what credit score equals ‘fair’, what equals ‘good’ etc. This is because the credit score we provide is based on several contributory factors and, like the credit scoring principles adopted by financial lenders, our ratings constantly evolve based on the various sources of information available.
Our credit scores and the way we calculate them change over time and are dependent on the constantly changing information we receive from those financial organisations which supply us with account performance data, and other sources.
I wouldn’t want to tell you that a certain score equals ‘good’, and then for you to reach that score and only be showing as ‘fair’ because the way the score is calculated has changed slightly in the interim.
I hope this information helps, and if I can help with anything else please let me know.
Thanks,
Sophia

My so-called score is '558' according to Noddle. :rotfl:It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0

If you could trust the silly sliding scale with the "You're here" label, then that data_score in the code as a % would for me give a maximum possible score on that scale to be 850.

The letter from Noddle is as vague as their scoring. In other words, not fit for purpose, if there was a purpose, in the first place.I certainly would NOT pay for their services.I have just done Wifes on Experian, they have a lot more criteria, and information, but, even theirs is very vague. However, they are not designed for us, are they.?I'm glad I'm of the age where a credit score, still means SOD all. These are my first, and last. There's no one piggy backing on my ID that is spending more than the wife, so, ok by be.;)engineer_amy wrote: »So, being curious, I decided to email Noddle to thank them for their lovely gift of a free credit score and asking them what the total score was out of. Well, I've been trying to improve my credit worthiness. I have a 3.5 year old satisfied default with a catalogue.
This time last year I couldn't get anything! I need a mortgage and so have been working very hard to improve everything.
My clear score is 336 (new report in 5 days) out of 700. Has gone up 86 points in three months!
My noddle is 1/5 with a 'credit score' of 533. Doesn't seem to correlate, same as other people. Some have 571 and 3/5! I did feel deflated but after reading this thread, feel more positive. I was approved for an Initial Barclaycard with a credit limit of £1200 on Tuesday. So hoping things are on the up and up as in August 2015 vanquis would only give me a credit card with £150!0 -
The score its self is meaningless to be honest. The default will stay on your credit file for 6 years from the default date. The truth is credit agencies do not know what a lenders criteria is so the score is a guess as you have defaults on your file a credit score would always appear in the lower end.
This need not prevent you from getting a mortgage but would make it more difficult.
You could call the catalogue and write a complaint asking them to stop reporting the account which is also difficult but not impossible.0 -
Waste of money! Half baked so off no help...avoid.0
