a £299 telly being offered at £2.99 would have to translate in the dell scenario to a £60 hard drive being offered at 60 pence.
half price on an item being definitely mispriced ????
a £299 telly being offered at £150 wouldn't make you think it's some kind of misprice.
also the 2 examples you gave from wikpedia show where an obvious mistake was made ...dell didn't say the £23 hard drive should have been £230 ...they've just come out with complete bull
Now, I didn't actually see the web page with the offer on it and it's now been removed. But the fact that all this has now gone on, I think I can safely assume that it had no mention of a special offer. I would imagine this could possibly cast suspicion over the "I didn't know it was a misprice" claim.
Just my two pence! The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.

I've got a screen grab of it

How are we supposed to know that it is a miss price?
People have pointed out that technology is getting cheaper, and this may have been stock to get rid of. I bought 2 of the Worrell Thompson 4 burner gas bbq's the other week from tescos for £87 each reduced from £399, got the info off here, now that did seem like a missprice and it wasn't. Had the Dyson hoovers for less than half price from posts off here, they wasnt misspriced.
Companies do get rid of stock by way of reducing prices. If you have a good look round at the differencies in prices for the same thing, then is the lower one always a miss-price?
If people knew it was a missprice from the start then why waste time in ordering one?
The whole point of this board is to get bargains as and when they appear, granted if the price had been £1.99 I wouldn't have ordered one and wasted my time, but £23.68 don't think that is an obvious missprice myself.0 -

It may have been quite a bit lower than some other sellers, but I don't think it was stupidly to entirely be covered by your statement. Yes, it might have been a mistake, but there is an equal chance it was genuine.
Get real, it was clearly a misprice, you are only fooling yourself if you think otherwise.
You aint going to get one ( or more ) so why rant on about it, just move on.0 -

I've had a reply to my email asking for an alternative, here it is:Thank you for contacting Dell online customer care.
Regarding your query about the order status.
We have had an error in our systems, and the product you thought you were ordering
was wrongly described on our website.
The product code and price of your order related to a completely different product,
and was incorrectly linked to the description of the Iomega Hard Disc Drive you
requested. In fact, this is a discontinued product and is no longer in stock.
Due to this, your Dell order has been cancelled. Within the next 5 working days any
pre-authorization on your credit/debit card will be cancelled and we will refund to
your card any money already collected.
Also, I have sent a mail to our finance department to check on the payment.
We apologize and truly regret any inconvenience or frustration this matter may have
caused.
To place your order for a different Hard Disc Drive, please go to www.dell.com
<http://www.dell.com/> or call our sales team at 08709074000 ( UK ) / 012044000 ( IE
).
I will contact you on 21/08/2007 update you on the payment for the order.
So, I think I'll bang off a new email just pushing it a little more. It's my decision, it's no skin of my nose. I realise some of you wouldn't, but that's your call. So please stop all these, frankly, insulting posts telling us (me) to drop it. I'm a grown up, I can make my own decisions - good or bad. If it effects you so much to read about our exploits, then might I suggest you stop reading them?
Then, if no one gets told anything different to what I'm being told, or indeed gets a HDD delivered (which would open a whole new can of worms), I will probably call it a day.
Some of you need to chill out and stop being so rude and bossy!0
