Just received the third email from Dell this evening about the change of the estimated delivery time to the 28th. Three emails from Dell on 3 separate days updating me with the state of my order and nothing at all about any cancellation. What is going on and why have I not received my cancellation email yet?
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

    Just for fun???
Do you think No. 10 has provided those kind of facilities just so you can have a bit of fun??
No, the No. 10 website is there to allow people the chance to vent their anger, while giving no 10. the chance to completely and utterly ignore EVERYONE who bothers to use it.
Have you EVER tried to post a petition on there??? It is a classic example of a Government which claims to be listening, but which unfortunately chooses not to hear anything it is told.
I say flame Downing Street with our Dell complaints!!!!
But neither Brown nor Dell will lift a finger to help anyone so tough titty.

I got the revised delivery date email at about 15:51 yesterday afternoon, but as yet, still no follow-up cancellation email!

Though after re-checking my Barclaycard account last night, the £44 is no longer pending, and hasn't been fully debited from my account either.

Out of interest, what would you have the Government do about this issue?

A large foreign company has advertised for sale a thing at an attractive price to consumers and at present there is some reason to believe that the item was priced in error; nobody who tried to buy the item has received the goods yet.

The Government doesn't have the power to compel the company to sell the goods at any price in particular, or at all. Maybe a court will be sympathetic, although past experience suggests not.

I ordered one after seeing the story here and I've had the email saying my delivery date has been extended to the 28th. I personally think that the Dell Corporation should fullfil the orders, at least to people who ordered only one of the items, and I will be disappointed in them if they don't.

But crying to the Prime Minister won't help. He couldn't stop the floods, or foot and mouth, or the US sub-prime debt problem, or the earthquake in Peru either. If all you want is for the Government to "listen", go and see your local Trading Standards, who employ staff for that purpose. Or your MP, or MSP in Scotland, who cam help you submit a petition to the Petitions Committee.

    edit.....

Seems strange that even though people got the confirmation PDF they are not honouring the orders...If Dell are now not honouring the Order Confirmation PDF then looks like there will be no-more "mistake" bargins to be had from them :(

As that appears to be the case, Dell is in breach of its own terms and conditions. That appears to indicate to Dell that it's OK then......

I for one am seriously considering a small claims challenge on this. It's only a £35 risk and given the evidence presented by Dell in emails to me, I would suggest that I have a good chance of getting some way with it. I might also be able to kick up some media interest.
  • I've also had the email giving me a later delivery date - due to running out of stock they said.
