About half an hour ago I got banned.

While I realised it was probably the anti-spamming stuff going on, I still found it rather upsetting. :(

I sent off a technical fault message.

Is this likely to happen again? It gave me quite a shock.

My IP was banned around the same time as you today. I sent off a technical fault message too and just got an email back saying MSE could not deal with personal money saving questions.

In the end I turned off my router to get back on.

But I must admit I did find it upsetting when I managed to read the reasons why IP's are banned on the main MSE site. I couldn't even read the forums at the time to find it has happened to others.

It's well past time that MSE got a grip on this issue ...

Banning normal users (as collateral damage) because their techies can't come up with a better anti-spam solution is no way for a multi-million pound organisation to behave.

I've noticed a few public wi-fi hotspots are IP banned, but others from the same providers are not, Is that because of spammers using them?

I thought I was safe after this happened to me today. I changed to another location & all was fine. I am still at the second physical location.
I am now getting this when I try to reply to comp thread:
Unable to post your message. Please try again.
    Earlier today I got:

    then:

    mse.error.2.1307.15_zps1ruio2un.png

When I tried to contact the administrator via the report button I got:

I emailed MSE admin re the issue.

I had this too a few days ago when trying to reply to a post. I didn't find it easy to uncover an email address I could use to report what had happened, and by the time I'd done this all was back to normal.

I assumed it was something to do with the anti spam measures, but surely it should be possible to distinguish between regular forum users and potential spammers.

I contacted them via email on both occasions/locations.

Stupidly I did not add the IP address but if requested I will email that as well.
