I have today been in branch to Barclays to be informed my account has been closed by head office. I rang through and they have advised I no longer meet their criteria and to refer to section 11 of the terms and conditions - any advice?0

Send a Subject Access Request off to CIFAS, Synectics Solutions and National Hunter. It'll cost £30 but there's bound to be something on one of them that's affecting applications.0 -
Shouldn't the Ombudsman feature somewhere in this process too?0

Establish the facts by sending a SAR off to the fraud prevention agencies.
As it stands Lloyds are totally within their terms and conditions to give 60 days notice to close the accounts so the ombudsman is powerless to do anything. However, Lloyds are not within their rights to place a marker with any fraud prevention agencies if there's been no fraud...
Something is obviously spooking the banks.0 -
Co - op basic account declined too got to be something on my account. I have filled in a CIFAS form. This is absolutely ridiculous now and not one of the banks will tell me anything regardless of whether its a case of 'they don't have to tell you' so just suck it up - it would be very useful to know. In the meantime I will have to post off to the various companies and wait, which is time the banks could have saved me and prevented me making further applications....

Have you sent the letter to Lloyds and SAR to CIFAS?0 -

To make you aware, Cash Plus are not a bank so all savings in your account will not be protected under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)
Had this in the past, didn't use it though so close the account and lost the £4.95 application fee. I have a Pockit MasterCard which I paid 99p for, however I do have 4 bank accounts as well.0 -
Thank you all for your responses I have written to Lloyds (about 7 - 10 day ago recorded delivery) they have returned supporting documents and say they have taken photocopies and are processing accordingly.
I sent off the form to CIFAS about 5 - 6 days go.
Still waiting on both.0 -

Does this mean they're going to reopen your account or just to take the fraud marker off your file?0
