Hi there , am thinking of moving to Origin Broadband , firstly for adsl then fibre

my exchange is a 21CN , market 1 BTW only

how do others find the service and support .

Given what the say here "Origin operates one of the largest networks in the UK, this means we have more than enough capacity so we never need to throttle your connection, limit you or slow you down"

Has any one ever suffered slow speeds with them

    many thanks

My friend has just had a bit of a nightmare with them and although things are going ok for me so far, I'd take up one of BT's offers instead if I was given a second chance.

So that is ADSL2+? Do you think any other provider would give you a better upload? Or is that just the max of the line? My Upload is pretty shocking too.
Yes, it is ADSL2+. I was with TalkTalk when I first moved here and was getting about 20mbps download. The upload was nearer 0.8mbps, with 1mbps being the maximum available on ADSL2+.

I wouldn't be rushing to BT either. Not until they get their UK call centres back.

I'd be just as concerned with BT's tactics, I doubt they are restricted to you.

Well, rest assured I'll be complaining to both once I get all this sorted to get to the bottom of who was telling the truth.

    Is fibre available ?
No. It's been 'due next month' for a couple of years.

When I joined PlusNet, in October, the CS person said we were due at the end of December (ie 2016).

We don't really need fibre, Sky's 6+ being quite adequate, but PlusNet is slower and has dropouts.

They have been increasing UK call centre numbers for a while, but someone who worked there said staff were not happy with the work conditions, so didn't stay for long.

Nobody "needs" fibre - it is a revelation once you have it though !!

Just signed up with Origin, as my Sky deal had come to an end and they wouldn't offer me the same price (same as for new customers). Nowadays loyalty is punishable by 50% price increase.

Very easy and quick process online to sign up with Origin. But of course no idea how things will go until the switch over completes. I'll come back and give more feedback once that's done.

I went for the 12-mths in advance contract, paid the whole lot on credit card (no extra fee), so if the company goes bust within 12 months, I should still have some protection with my CC. And it's a 0% for 2+yrs CC, I can take my time paying for it, works out even better than paying for it monthly (additional call charges would still be monthly DD).
And I went through Quidco, cashback amount of £38-ish.

Even after reading all of the poor reports on Origin - you still signed up with them?
