    Good afternoon.
I decided to give the Origin Broadband £155 line rental & broadband for a year deal a try , so subscribed through the MSE link on 30th July 2017. Payment taken immediately & received confirmation of the order & that I would receive a " going live" date within 4 days. I hadn't heard anything by 9th July so gave them a call. Waited on hold for around 10 minutes. I was told there was a possible issue with the line & that a new line may have to be installed ( at no cost as a special offer) I was also told that I would hear back within about 48 hrs whether this was the case. Again I heard nothing back so gave them another call today. This time around a 30 minute wait on hold, then told " the lines ok mate Il reorder" turns out this will now take another 14 days. No apology for the delay or for not being kept informed. I said I may wish to cancel & told " up to you mate , will take 14 days for any other broadband to be connected"
I was certainly taken aback by the apparent " couldn't care less" attitude & no attempt whatsoever for any kind of apology for what will now be nearly a month before the service goes live. I did say I will continue with the order to give Origin the chance to finally sort it so will await developments.

This really isn't the service we aim to provide and I'd like to investigate the call you've had with us. Can you email forum@origin-broadband.co.uk?

I am going live tomorrow, I saw the cheaper Sky deal and was within my cooling off period, but thought I'd stick with Origin and see how it goes. I paid £154 upfront to bring the price down to £~13/month. This is the most I have ever paid for BB. I am/was with talktalk and paid £7/month for the previous yr taking their voucher into account.

I had a look at samknows website and it looks like Origin has LLU unbundled 43 exchanges with its own equipment around the South Yorks area.

My exhange is not unbundled by Origin, so I am wondering who the supplier of the service will be?? Sky, TT, Vodafone or Zen are the LLU operators and BT. Anyone have any info on this aspect?

The broadband username will tell you - they didn't send me this until I asked for it on the "go live" date.

Mine was unbundled with Vodafone; I heard of others being on Plusnet (i.e. BT).
  • Thanks for that . Have sent an email. I have also forwarded an email I received from Origin today. In view of what has happened so far I sincerely hope this is just an(other) mistake rather than a deliberate action.

The bit after the @ will tell you. E.g. @plusdsl.net is Plusnet, etc etc

If you use speedtest.net it will tell you there who the ISP is.

I'm on Origin and mine says Vodafone

    Try https://www.nwtools.com
Your IP address will be in the box already. Click Express, then Go. The "canonical name" might give you a clue as to your ISP.

Mine showed as being Vodafone when I was with Origin.
