Nail in tyre - AGAIN!

  • Hmmm. ANOTHER Nail.

This time back tyre - close to the sidewall this time so new tyre needed.
Beginning to think now. Time to get camera up I think.

We've had hassle with neighbour recently. Nothing from our side but he seems the type who just won't let things go. Wondering if we've inadvertently upset him again for some reason. This sort of thing seems to be his MO.

Time to get camera set up as a deterent at least.

What kind of nails are they?

I went through a spate of nails in my tyres a few years ago. After a bit of detective work, I discovered that the nails were the type used to shoe horses. The route I was taking to visit my girlfriend included a lane regularly used by horses. I changed my route and had no more punctures.

4 in 9 months seems suspect. Is there regular building work around your area? Does anybody else on your street have any issues?

Do you live near any DIY shops etc?

The only problem with installing cameras is that you would have to be able to see someone dropping a nail onto the road. Simply walking past the area a nail is found is not enough evidence to prove anything.

Do what I do, check under you tyres before your get into your car.
Then when you drive away, do so with your window open, hopefully you'll hear the "tick, tick, tick" from the nail BEFORE it's been pushed too far in.

If it's foul play, the perp is unlikely to sit there forcing the nail into the tyre, most likely to stand it under the wheel and walk off.

I went through a spate of finding screws/nails under my car after the psycho mother of the young lady next door accused me of damaging the kids toys when they came over the fence.

Now all I seem to find is cigarette butts all over my parking area and in front of my garage, stupid cow thinks me and the missus are "posh", which (considering we're both from the black country area) really says more about her than it does about us.

How many people do you need to have upset to consider that normal behaviour?

Sounds to me like you need to stop making enemies if you have to go through that every time you drive your car.

It only takes one crazy neighbour and one wrong look.........

Fortunately in my case the psycho doesn't live there, because almost immediately after the altercation (her hurling abuse over the fence), she moved out, we assume because she wasn't supposed to be living there (benefit cheating).

Yes but just dropping one nail onto the road flat has got a high chance of not working surely?

I was thinking more of the banging the nail in/leaving it leaned up against tyre sort of thing.

Last one just looked like a standard rusty nail...

I would agree with Strider. After experience with my neighbour, Im amazed at how nuts some people are and how they seem to have little in their lives to get on with apart from causing trouble.
