Hi am after some advice please!
We are wanting to go to DLP on the 5th December 2013 for 3 nights. By then we will be a family of 2 adults, 1 x 15 year old, 1 x 4 year old, 1 x 5 year old and a nearly 8 month old.
Basically what is the best way to do it? Me nor DH want to drive there or even hire a car (if can be helped) the other end.
I obviously want a MSE option but will pay a bit extra if it means we are in a hotel that provides a shuttle. I have been once about 6 years ago, but we were a family of 3 then and we travelled by coach, which was no problem then
So are we best to fly or Eurostar? Davy Crockett or 2 separate rooms in a hotel?
Thank you
if you're not driving, the Davy Crockett Ranch is out really, as there is no shuttle service to and from the parks from there.
So that leaves 2 onsite hotel rooms (or a family room if you can get one, but these are in pretty short supply at DLP), or the Explorers hotel (is very close to DLP and has a free shuttle bus to and from the parks all day and evening). The Explorers could work really well for you if you book that through travelrepublic, hotels.com, alpharooms, expedia etc etc for room and breakfast, and then get annual passes through cemultiavantages or promoparcs (as you 4 and 5-year olds annual passes would be free when buying the other 3 annual passes through either of those sites). You'd have to buy Dream annual passes as there are blockout dates during your trip dates for the cheaper annual passes, so that would be around £425 total, for all your park entry tickets for the duration of your stay.
Check DLRPMagic for their great information on annual pass discounts - with them you get restaurant and shop discounts while at DLP.
Travelwise, if you can get the tickets as soon as they go on sale, Eurostar can be as little as £69 return per adult, £49 return per child, children aged under 4 go free. Phone Eurostar now and ask them when your dates may go on sale, they can add you to their contact list and let you know when your ticket dates go on sale. Book them as soon as you can, because they sell out at the cheaper prices quickly, and the prices only go up the longer you leave it.
just checked travelrepublic for your dates - you have 2 good choices for your party size, the Explorers at £540 total for your 3 nights, including breakfast. Or a real bargain, the Adagio apartments, room only, for £245 total. These apartments are self-catering, near the train station and supermarket at val d'europe, and does have a free shuttle bus to the DLP parks. Its not as frequent a shuttle as the one which goes to the Explorers, but its near the train station which is only one stop (5 minutes) from the DLP train station. The fares on the train are very reasonable, less than 2 euros single per adult, children half price, no charge for the baby.0 -
Oh my goodness!! Thanks so much for the quick reply!!! Just had a quick look at it all and its coming in much cheaper than expected. I will have a good look as soon as my tribe is in bed.

I will be back if I have any more questions0 -
Off the DLR in March and hubby now takes medication for diabetes and takes 3 types of pills twice a day. At home it is easier for him to have them in pill boxes marked morning and evening with the days of week on as he has a head like a sieve and can never remember if he's taken them. Does he need to take them in the original packets or can he take them already in his pill box??0

Hi,
I am feeling slightly lost now... Hotel wise if we are NOT staying at DLP one which is the closest for us?
Am I right that I can just buy a day pass? It maybe me and my daughter for 2/3 day's entry?
I'm just trying to get my head around the basics and will check flights later.
I'm still not sure about to Hotel from airport - sounds slightly scary. What is the easiest / most economical way to get to Hotel? What is a rstransports?

I'm trying to figure out which side the train station is on in location to hotels, as the 'park and suites prestige' looks nice but unsure where it is in relation to train station... grrrr.... :-)Sept 2013 - Journey of trying to be mortgage free started.

the closest hotels which are not onsite are the Kyriad, Explorers, Magic Circus and Dream Castle hotels. They are very close to the onsite hotels and have a free shuttle to and from the parks all day every day.
Yes, you can buy one-day park tickets - but they are more expensive if you wait and buy them at the park. You would be cheaper sorting them out before you go.
rstransports is a private shuttle service (like a taxi but you book it in advance). Its probably the easiest and most convenient way to get to your hotel at/near DLP if its your first time.

I can't help you there, if you're looking at val d'europe the nearest hotels/apartments to the train station there are the L'elysee hotel, the Adagio apartments, the Resid'home Prestige, and the Ibis and Ibis budget.0 -
on booking.com it says the Park & Suites Prestige is around 2km from the train station at val d'europe -

Hello,
Thank you for your quick reply. I think I have got it now. The one I looked at is right on the other side. Now that I know what the rstransports is I feel a bit better. I just had visions of getting off the plane and getting lost. It looks like I will save a lot by using those hotels, but am going to keep researching.
The enrty tickets from travelrepublic are not too bad.
