I have been 'lurking' on this thread for months now, as I am taking my family (total of 6 adults, 4 children ages 5, 4, 3, 1) to Disneyland from 17 to 21 March. This is a special trip for us to celebrate my 'milestone birthday'!
We are booked into the Hotel Santa Fe, and I have a few questions which I hope someone who has stayed there recently can answer please:
I understand that some of the rooms have been refurbished in a 'Cars' theme, and apart from the fact that these are apparently much nicer, my grandchildren are such big fans that they would just love to stay in one of these rooms. Can I request that we have these (we have 3 rooms booked) and if so is it better to do it now (by phone or email) to wait until we check in?

yes you can request nice newly decorated rooms, call the hotel direct about a week before your check-in date, explain what big fans your children are of the movie, and ask for Cars themed rooms. Don't wait until you check in, your rooms are already allocated by then.

Kettles - I have read different reports, some saying they are provided in the rooms, others saying that you have to hire them, others saying you just pay a refundable deposit. Which is true please and how much?

its a refundable deposit - 30 euros per kettle, and you don't get mugs, tea, coffee etc replenished. I just take my own stuff, including travel kettle

Breakfast - I understand we will be allocated a time when we check in, but do we have any choice or will we just be told a time?

you will be given a choice of what timeslots are available. At the Santa Fe, go for a timeslot of 7.45am or earlier, or don't bother at all (the restaurant gets very busy by 8am, not a pleasant start to the day). You might want to ask for breakfast in the park instead - this is a free service, its instead of breakfast at your hotel, and it can work out great if you don't want a very early breakfast, as you can get a timeslot of 9.15am or 9.30am, so you can enjoy the earliest hour of Extra Magic Hours from 8am, then have breakfast without leaving the park at all. It may not be on every day of your stay, you can't book it in advance, but you can ask your hotel receptionist.

Thanks in anticipation - I'm sure I will have loads more questions as this trip needs some planning!

I hope this helps - I love the Santa Fe hotel :).
  • Thanks Balletshoes for your prompt reply

Re: breakfast in the park, what restaurants can you use for this option and how early do they open? Would we not be able to get breakfast at these places until 9.00 am onwards?

you don't get to choose the restaurant in the park, its one restaurant per day which opens for breakfast in the park, Disney chooses which one. Yes, I believe the timeslots for breakfast in the park are available from around 8.15am, every 15 minutes until 9.30am or possibly 9.45am (it finishes at 10am, when the park officially opens to everyone).

We've stayed at the Santa Fe in one of the Cars rooms. We didn't ask, it was just allocated but i suppose if you really want one it's best to ask in advance. The room was nice as it was at the end of the corridor so no-one passed our door and we were as far away from the lift as you could get. The bedding and wallpaper were themed but not really anything else.

We didn't bother booking a time slot for breakfast as didn't want to have to be up at a set time so we just went down and joined the queue. It moved quite quickly really, no problems finding a table and plenty of food. We made some sarnies at breakfast to take with us, to keep us going until it was time for tea so take some sandwich bags with you !

I'd recommend the Santa Fe but we have also stayed at the Dream Castle too which was just as good.
  • Hi, I am looking to book the 2 night (+ 2nights free inc park tickets) for myself, Hubby and two young children (2 & 4) at time of travel. We are looking to depart the first week in June, however, flights from NCL are so expensive, we have priced up the Sequoia and it's near enough £1400 - any recommendations or tips on reducing this cost? Many Thanks

If you want to fly, can you go from Glasgow or Edinburgh instead (I believe they both have Easyjet flights to Paris). Or if thats too expensive, could you drive and take the ferry or Eurotunnel? You could stop on the way there and the way back, get a travelodge or premier inn room near your ferry/eurotunnel departure point for the night before you go to France, and for the night you come back.

Is the £1400 price the price just for the Sequoia Lodge, or is that including your travel too?
  • Hi, yes that includes travel from ncl and park passes, do you think the price is reasonable? I have just been comparing doing it seperately but unfortunately it is no cheaper! It's not as though it is school holidays etc. Thanks for your response
  • Thanks for the prompt replies to my queries re Hotel Santa Fe, I now have another question please - we are travelling on the direct Eurostar train to Disney and have standard premier seats which include complimentary meals and drinks. What can we expect to get? I have ordered a veggie meal and children's meals as well as the standard ones.

do you want to post the exact dates you're looking at, and I'll have a look around, see what I can find?
  • That would be great - we are off from Sunday 26th May to 9th June so could depart anytime around then! 4 nights if possible. Many Thanks
