thanks once again ballet shoes, do you know if there is much price difference between the a la carte and the other set meals please

the set meal is, i believe, 30 euros per adult, and around 18 euros per child at Cafe Mickey. This is for 3 courses each.

A la carte, well a pizza (big enough for 2) is around 15 euros, pasta around 18 euros, there are steaks, fish, etc etc. There is no a la carte menu for children.

We usually share pizza at Cafe Mickey, and just pay the bill at when we've finished our meal :).

eta - here is a sample menu (looks fairly up to date to me) for Cafe Mickey, with prices -

Looking to book DLP for 2 adults and 2 children (5 and 4) for 2/3 nights and noticed that the official website are doing a good deal with up to 20% off and kids eat free.

Is this best deal about at the moment?

Or is better to book tickets independently and get accommodation elsewhere? I quite like the look of Dream Castle.

So many choices, it's all quite baffling!

Sorry, I missed that from the OP. Anytime in August.

Daft question - is it cheaper doing weekdays than weekends?

yes it is cheaper doing weekdays.
In August the only hotels you can get the free meals (which is a great deal) is for the Davy Crockett ranch (if you drive over, as its not onsite and you need a car to get to and from the parks, no shuttle/public transport). This is for a minimum 3 night stay. Or the Newport Bay Club hotel, for at least a 4 night stay.

Have a play about on the official site, see what prices are coming up for all the onsite hotels (the parks are open from 8am to 11.30pm at that time of year, so if your kids like swimming for example, you might prefer to take a break in the middle of the day and go back to your hotel for a swim and a rest).

Then you could compare that with a stay at either the Explorers, Dream Castle or Magic Circus hotels on various online agents sites (travelrepublic, expedia, alpharooms, trivago etc etc) on a bed and breakfast basis, and adding 2 fantasy annual passes from promoparcs or cemultiavantages (119 euros each and both your kids would get free passes as you're buying 2 adult ones). This gives you the best of both worlds - possibly a much cheaper trip, and the extra magic hours perks that the onsite hotels get, and restaurant and shop discounts with your annual passes.
Check DLRPMagic for blockout dates for fantasy annual passes for August, from memory I don't think there are any in August this year :).

eta - just checked, there are definitely no fantasy pass blockout dates in August, so if you buy fantasy annual passes they are valid for park entrance as many times as you like all month -

    Many thanks for that.

I didn't realise there were more t&cs to the free meals offer - it'll be more expensive with the extra days stay.

I'll definitely have a look at the other websites you've recommended.

Not sure if I'm being thick, but everything that is being offered in the hotels on the official site is giving me 2 double beds, even though I've put down 2 children?

yes, thats a standard room configuration in all the onsite hotels except the Cheyenne (that one is one double and one set of bunks in each room).

At the Dream Castle and Magic Circus the standard room configuration is one double/king and one set of bunks, and at the Explorers the standard room is one double and 2 single beds in a room.
