Just booked DLP hotel for June half term (3rd to 7th). DH and I have been to Florida (pre-children) but the kids (7 and 9) and my mum have never been to Disney so they will be so excited!

We're staying at the Adagio Aparthotel. Seemed like the best place to give us all a bit of privacy at night. Was gutted this morning when the Disney site said there were no rooms left (and told myself I should have booked last week instead of procrastinating!) but then found it cheaper on accorhotels.com, with flexible cancellation, even taking into account buying the tickets separately.

Now we need to decide how to get there from Reading. The Air France flights are coming in at £631 for nice departure times (a priority for all of us!). This has already gone up by about £50 since last week.

We also want to consider Eurostar but the bookings don't open until either 90 or 120 (can't quite work out which) days before travel. By then the flight will probably be a lot more expensive so if we don't book it now we're more or less committing ourselves to Eurostar. (We don't want to drive - the kids would go mad being in the car for that long).

Has anyone got any advice about how much Eurostar tickets are likely to be when they do become available? If we wanted to travel in the next couple of weeks, we could save quite a bit by being willing to change at Lille, but obviously that might be a different matter in the Summer.

    Any advice gratefully received.
we usually drive ( our kids are now 15 and 9 but we first started going to Disney when they were 4 and 10 ) and its an easy straight forward drive . we use tesco clubcard deals for eurotunnel

Eurostar is fab for getting straight to the magic, really easy etc ( but made my son sick for some reason ! he puked up in the carriage and so did a few other people !) we havent been by eurostar since then lol !

we are flying for the first time in march and got good times / prices with easyjet. you need to get a transfer, info here : http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1004423

we have stayed @ Adagio 3 times so far. its fab for families. it does have a shuttle but you might want to get the train ( few euros and one stop away) as the times arent that great

Balletshoes - thanks so much for your advice! Called Eurostar this morning and June 3rd sold out! (They are currently taking bookings as far in advance as October). Have a booking being held for me on June 2nd and have just changed the hotel dates, so will call back to confirm the Eurostar tickets shortly. We decided against flying just because it seems easier to arrive in DLP rather than having to get there from CDG. The TGV seemed really expensive and the other train meant changing in Paris - not easy with two grumpy children and an pensioner in tow. DH suggested hiring a car from CDG but I didn't want to have to worry about getting it back to the car hire place and then getting to the CDG check in desk on time. Should be much easier to just get on the train, hopefully. The prices for flying vs. train were very similar, taking into account getting to airport/getting to St Pancreas etc.

Rachie B - thanks for your help! I'm hoping there will be minimal throwing up on the train but I will take lots of plastig bags just in case! It's great to hear you have stayed in the hotel and liked it. Is it far away from somewhere to buy food? We're hoping to save money by making use of the kitchen for some meals.

The eurostar lady said they could sell me disney tickets so will see what her prices are like when I call back.

    Thanks again!! :D

its just minutes walk away from the big Auchan supermarket

but the money you save on meals you might then be tempted to spend @ the Designer village and other shops which are also @ Val D'europe ! http://www.valdeurope.com/en/lifestyle/shopping-retail

some very good eateries there too ( plus mc donalds and subway !) the pizzas @ the italian are really good, and the Dragon chinese was fab too
ooh and a nice place in the corner that did amazing cocktails .... ! :T

:TRachie B - brilliant, thanks!! I had a rummage on google and it seems like the Auchan is open until 10pm on the Saturday, so plenty of time to see the park when we arrive and then do the shopping later.

DH is already looking forward to the cocktails. :D I might see if we can a take-away one for mum (she will be baby sitting). Just a small one though - she doesn't drink and when she had a pina colada (she saw someone else's drink, thought it was a big milkshake and said 'I'll have one of those please') in Las Vegas she got very tiddly :rotfl::rotfl:

Hi all just wanted to thank you all I have picked up some fab tips for our next trip which is soon. i wanted to ask though whether they still offer the fantasyland breakfasts where you can eat breakfast in the park. We did this last time but my travel agent wasnt sure whether this was still available?

yes they do, its called breakfast in the park now, still available if you are staying at the Santa Fe, Cheyenne, Sequoia Lodge or Newport Bay Club hotels. You can't book these in advance, you have to ask when you check in at your hotel. They may not be offered every day (it depends on the time of year etc that you are going).

There is a Princess Pavilion for meet and greets with them now.

You will be able to check the times and get autographs/photos.

I would turn up early though as the princesses are always popular!

And, yes, you ask at check in for the breakfasts. :)
  • Can anyone who has used them explain to me how the Sun Disney tickets work once you get there i.e. how & when you exchange your voucher for actual tickets? Does it have to be done on the morning the ticket is valid or can you do it in advance? We will arrive from Paris on the train on Monday afternoon / evening - can we sort the tickets out then or will we have to wait until the Tuesday / Wednesday (we have booked 2 sets of 1 day passes) we have booked the offer for?

Also, we have 3 nights booked at the Santa Fe through Expedia. Will we still be able to benefit from extra magic hour entry or is this only for guests who have booked tickets + accommodation as a package directly with Disney?
