Yep, we're going on the 8th for our fourth January trip, so will be there the same time - we return on the 11th. :D

There is definitely no queues and we like it that way.

DD wears a ski suit and that keeps her snug all day. Also means she can sit on the pavement while waiting for the parade. :)

We make sure we take hats and gloves. Last year, I wore a pair of thick tights under my trousers which helped a lot.

You can find out the closures on DLRP. Small World is closed when we are there, which is a pain as I love it.

I think Buzz was closed the week after...

ETA: list of closures here http://www.dlrpmagic.com/calendar/closures-refurbishments/

I'll keep an eye out for you!! :D

Thanks for that link though - nothing major really closed when we are there and some just seem to be closed for a few days and back open on the Friday, Small World being one of them. I remember when me and my mum went not long after the park first opened and that ride drove us completely crazy, we couldn't wait to get off!! One of the teachers in DD/DS's school wrote a song in Welsh to the Small World tune and every time they have a concert they sing it - arrrgghhh! :p

    Jx
And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end
  • Thankyou for the link, we are off feb half term 10-14th feb I think lol, its around then, Is it worth wrapping up and warm clothes, although was not expecting warm weather then.
Also does anyone know how busy it is then?
We have to take a docs letter as son has disability so shouldnt have to worry to much about queues.
Looking forward to it havent told the kids yet, we have a friend who does father christmas for the church, so he is going to film a message from santa for them for them to get xmas day.
Cant wait, we have also booked the princess lunch for me and dd (5) and the meet character lunch for hubby and my boys (8+6)
    Any tips welcome

    hiya

    sorry for more questions......

we are flying to dlp next monday and back friday eve for dd's 4th birthday . we drove last year and could take what we wanted so had lots of choice of clothes and as it was snow was a no brainer ! this year we are just taking 3hand luggage cases and i really dont know what to pack !! all prepared with snow boots and snow suit for dd and i think if we take them we will boil !!

what would you all take ?

wore my uggs last year big mistake by last day were water logged and had to wear dlp carrier bags on my feet to keep them dry so dont really want to make that mistake again !

also if i do get it completely wrong are there any clothes shops near dlp i could grab some bits at ?

also is it worth booking our princess lunch before we go ? and is it amazing ? plan this for dd birthday before we travel home

    thank you all xx

I have walking boots which really only come out of the wardrobe for trips to DLP, but they are great and mean I don't ever have to take anything else with me in my hand luggage.

Check accuweather.com for Paris, or Chessy, and look at the "real feel" for the dates you are there. Definitely wear waterproof shoes/boots, and take plasters with you (you walk for miles without realising it and I still get blisters).
When we were there 2 weeks ago, real feel of 11 degrees or higher and we didn't even need our winter coats, fleeces were fine. We had real feel of 7 degrees on one day, that was winter coat weather for me, plus gloves and a hat at one point as well.

I packed layers for both DD and I, so winter coats and waterproof boots were worn to travel, plus a fleece/hoody and a t-shirt, and joggers for my DD (which she lives in lol) and trousers for me. I had an extra fleece each packed in the cases, plus more t-shirts, 2 more bottoms each, pjs, socks, gloves, hat, scarf, undies and toiletries (the bear minimum as you get some toiletries provided at the hotels). My little hairdryer, hair straighteners, travel kettle and coffee/hot chocolate sachets fitted too, along with all my phone/camera chargers and continental adaptors.

Remember you may also (depending on who you are flying with) have to put your handbag in your case, so you need to make sure it will fit once you have everything else packed.

Maybe if you've not done it before with hand luggage only, you might find it useful to have a bit of packing practice before you go :).

DD and I love 'Small World'! Our record is four goes on the trot!

DH hates it as he says he can't get the tune out of his head!

I think, for me, it's a welcome break from the cold and walking around- recharges my batteries nicely! :D

No way!! We went there when we were in holiday in Cenarth Falls two years ago - there was a falconry display on that day and the place was packed! I'm pretty much a once seen never forgotten person, which is unfortunate as I'm hopeless with faces and never recognise anyone!
