Alex - the prices are apparently dearer this year ( we only go every few years so it's difficult to tell) the cheapest I've seen this year is the 30% off that was available in Jan. There was a flash sale after that - 40%? for limited dates and a 25% later on.
Many people book with the best offer they can find, possibly with a lower hotel or without any 'extras' they need. If a better offer comes up you phone and upgrade, so you would still be paying the same price but for a better package - I have heard of a very few people managing to get their price reduced this way, but it seems to be more hit and miss. If you are flexible over hotels you could book SF now and upgrade to Ch if a better deal comes up - you could of course always upgrade anyway even if there are no offers but then you would miss out on the current offer.
Regards booking I have always used Disney themselves as it seems to be easier to deal with any queries, add bits, change bits etc. From what I have read on forums the indirect route seems to be more long-winded, so personally it would be worth spending a little extra for peace of mind.

I booked back in January and it was 'up to' 25% off and kids under 12 stay and play for free so the offers are there if you are patient and are not fussed on when you go.

I ordered my 2 day passes this morning, them realised I have booked for the 14/7 instead of the 15/7! I cant get the phone number to work, so have sent an email. Have I got any hope of changing the date? :(

Holy smoke!! It's £873 from 1st Jan - 3rd Jan in DLH. However, on 31st Dec to 3rd Jan it goes up to a WHOPPING £2514 - that means it is £1700 a NIGHT for NYE in DLH. It's £158 for Magic Circus overnight so might go on 31st, stay at MC and then from 1st to 3rd stay at DLH - kids have an inset on 3rd so that is helpful.

I thought I would take a look at the brochure to see what they do for Xmas and it costs a whopping £166 per adult for 'New Year Eve Buffet' at Walts and £216 at the Princess NYE Buffet. BLOODY HELL!!
