you can reserve a table before you go by calling Disney dining on 0033 160 304050. Or you can wait until you get there and reserve a table at your hotel reception or at City Hall in the main park.

Have been meaning to write a bit of a review since we got back last week, but still feel shattered!
We travelled Eurostar from Ashford. Was fine, convenient, but not at all luxurious. Wish we had booked it seperately and could have chosen our seats. Twiglet66, I don't think there was any particular stamping of the tickets. The Disney express desk was in the middle of the departure lounge and everything was straightforward. We only used the Disneyexpress luggage service on our return. The queue to drop the cases of there on arrival looked really long and Blue_monkey had suggested going straight to the hotel, which worked fine for us.
We stayed at the Newport Bay Club. I have no idea why I upgraded to an admirals room, I should have upgraded to Hotel New York instead, didn't really think that one through. It was fine though, perfectly adequate, had an awful view of the recycling area.... hey ho.
The pool was nice and the girls loved it, not sure where they found the energy! We went down for breakfast at 7am as suggested on here. Definately a good tip. The queue was always growing as we finished ours.
If you are staying there soon... The shortest path to Disney village is closed, but there are absolutely no signs to say this, so you walk all the way up to the barriers at Disney village and then have to turn round and walk the whole way around the lake. So make sure you take the path to the right on leaving the hotel, past Sequoia lodge and Hotel New York.
We ate in the hotel one evening at the Cape Cod buffet. This was a good meal for us, as the girls were able to pick and choose things they liked. It was the only time I felt they ate well.
We took breakfast in the park once as that was the only slot available when we checked in. If you want to try this, ask on your arrival. It was the same breakfast, just in a different location. We had ours in Plaza gardens, right in the heart of the park.
We had a lovely time at Cafe Mickey, thankyou for the glowing recommendation Balletshoes. Our meal was nice enough and the characters were great. Wish we hadn't ordered the childrens menu for 3yo. The girls would have been better off sharing a bowl of chips, as they barely eat at all with so much going on. Someone had a birthday while we were there and I was quite envious! Looked great fun.
We had a lovely meal at Auberge Du Cendrillon. As our concierge suggested we didn't order for either of our girls, they just shared ours, which no-one seemed to mind in the slightest. If you're after princess encounters this really is the place to go. Most children were dressed up. Another time I would ask for a table near the dancing, don't think our table by the fire exit was the best, but it didn't detract from the experience at all really.
Other than that we didn't buy much food, just some MaccyD's and a few icecreams which were 3euro each... Ouch. In all spent less than 350euro over 5 days for the four of us, we took twice that so very pleased. Our girls aren't old enough to expect to go in the shops though, we brought them little necklaces while we were there and I got them a Disney princess doll each in the Sainsburys half price sale at Christmas which we gave them on the last day, they were chuffed to bits (Well, this is MSE!).
The disneyshareholders club 15% discount helped and we went to their Salon Mickey each morning. We filled up with a coffee, orange juice, cookies and croissants and then needed less snacks and drinks all day. At first we found Salon Mickey hard to find and didn't realise we had to knock on the door. When I went into Disneyland Hotel and asked where it was the concierge said he'd never heard of it in 18 years working there and it's almost next door! It was nice and felt exclusive, the girls enjoyed a good break there. Overall I'd say buying the shares was worth it for us, particularly as we'll be going again.
I would agree with the comments above about finding the Characters easy to meet. We have 20+ photos with them. Again I think it helped that our girls were polite. They didn't push too much and usually the characters picked them out when there wasn't an organised queue. I think being dressed as Princesses helped, particularly our almost 2yo, who was especially cute. The only ones we really missed were Woody and Jessie, but you just have to be in the right place at the right time. Walt Disney Studios seemd to always have plenty of casual opportunities to get a character cuddle.
The highlights for us were the Parade, Stars and Cars (which had a roped off area in front of the stage for children in costumes on the Tuesday), Small world, Carpets of Agrabah, Dumbo and Playhouse Disney Live, but our children are very young (1yo + 3yo).
Only around 3 years until we get to go again, can't wait, will be 5 of us then too, so perhaps we'll have to stay at the Disneyland hotel as I understand most of the others only cater for families of 4!:D0 -
hi we have found good prices with easyjet but also have about 3000 air miles to use so may use these for the flights to and from.
is there a shuttle from airport to Disneyland?
we won't get there til late wednesday evening, then have full day thursday and half day friday before we leave around 10pm friday night. Hoping this is enough time there ...
Thanks again
You can get the RER (?) straight into Disney, there is also a Disney coach outside the airport.
There are loads of drivers walking round asking if you want a taxi, I can't remember how much it was but we were 1 of 2 families so halved the cost (it took 8 people), so see if you can share with another family. If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in0 -

If you can go just before your youngest turns three, you'l save quite a bit and can still go in any of the other hotels that only sleep 4.
I wish Disney would notice the need for larger family rooms.0 -
The Santa Fe is now advertising family rooms, as well as the Newport Bay Club and Disneyland Hotel.
Lovely review snaphappyone, we came home on Monday 21st and I still haven't sorted out my photos etc.
You're right about being in the right place etc - this was our 9th visit and we've never met Jessie and Ariel so many times as this trip - they both came to my girls for photos/autographs 3 days out of 4 at Cars n Stars. We were in different spots each day too.0 -

trying to get them is impossible though apart from the Disney Hotel0 -
Just as a little FYI - according to staff my wife spoke to, the Santa Fe is being renamed as "Cars Hotel" in September.
It's already heavily Cars themed with bedding etc. so I guess it makes sense.0 -
We're driving to Disney later this week via the ferry from Dover. First time for all of us (me, my partner and our 7 year old daughter). We're on a small budget so any tips on the better value places to eat would be great. Also are there many extras to pay out for once you get in the parks, other than refreshments? We don't intend to go to the expensive shows because they sound like a rip off! Will we be missing out terribly?
Any tips from recent visitors would be great as this thread goes back a good couple of years!!0 -
