we booked our own travel... Eurotunnel using tesco deals
its approx 3 hours drive from Disney back up to Calais
it will be a really tiring day for you all!
no way we could have done that,as we have a 4 hour drive toget to the tunnel / ferry !
hence why we booked the tunnel and 2 nights stay in a hotel
as we need 2 rooms and it was half term, the cheapest package with Disney was triple+ what we paid!!
Thanks for that.
Trying to convince the other half that we should go via the tunnel rather than the ferry in the Sun offer [ £15 worth of Tesco vouchers covers the return Tunnel crossing and the last train back is hours after the ferry as well giving us plenty of time at the park].
We're only 1.5 hours away from from the Tunnel so it shouldn't be too bad - but still tempted to book a hotel for when we come back. If I had my way we'd stay off-resort on the Friday night and go back in the park the next day (considering the saving we made on the offer) but the OH isn't keen.
Re the drive from Calais to DLP ... is it worth taking the toll road ? In terms of distance and/or time ?0 -

the tunnel is fab,as so short and no sickness ! lol
we always go via the toll road, its E20.40 each way ,but so easy and the roads are rarely busy
I would def recommend an overnighter, and if you didn't want to spend too much then somewhere like Premiere Classe hotels do rooms for approx E30 per night sleeping 3 I think
have a look on expedia.co.uk
we stayed at the Adagio and it was cheaper on expedia than booking direct, plus I found a discount code on here

when we went in feb we took the ferry and then drove to disney and back, i wouldnt advise doing it all in 1 day id advise staying somewhere because it makes you so tired you dont really get the best out of disney with all the driving. i would def use the toll road though although it costs it is almost direct from calais to disney and very rarely busy.0

Hi we're using the Sun deal & staying over at the end of March. Just wondering what you did with your one day - did you stay in the main park or do both parks? The kids are small so have no interest in the bigger faster rides & there doesn't look a lot for them in studios apart from cars and toy story playland. Thanks0

how old are your kids clairey?
my dd has always loved the Studios park - when she was 5 or 6 it was her favourite place apart from Fantasyland. Stitch Live, Animagique, Cinemagique, Cars ride, Playhouse Disney Live (if you have toddlers) and the daily Stars n Cars Parade are all great and young kids love them.
You often find its easier to meet the characters in the Studios too (and Buzz has his meet n greet spot there).0 -
just got back from our disney trip with the sun, kids had a great time but don't think I would go again in Feb as there were no characters wandering round and noticed all the re furb stuff to. Also if you are going on a sun deal I would check your ferry times as our confirmation said 06.40 ferry going out but when we turned up at Dover Tuesday morning there was no 06.40 ferry it was the 07.20. I know its not much difference in time but I was a bit annoyed they had not informed me and we had to wait longer.0

Hi they're 10, 6 & 4 (tho DD will be 5 on the day we are in the park!) We went to Florida Jan 2010 so we aren't too fussed about seeing any of the shows or parades but would quite like to meet Rapunzel if she has arrived as she is DD's fav?!
As I said they don't like any of the faster rides (couldn't even get the 10 year old on Tower of Terror lol) I'm just wondering if I should keep quiet about the studios & stay in the main park all day? We will have the extra magic hours as we upgraded to 2 nights at Davy Crocket so we could have 12 hours in the main park.
Our plan is to go swimming when we arrive on the Monday, do the park(s) on the Tues (& in true money saving fashion take a small cake with us for DD), then have a look round Disney Village before we set off for the ferry on the Wed.
Have checked Ferry Times on the P&O site & there are def ferries for the times we've been allocated plus it looks as tho we're on the new Spirit of Britain ferry on the outbound journey :T0 -
clairey, We are just back from Florida and you cannot compare the 2 Disneys, some things are the same but not many, it is very different otherwise, the shows, the rides, the parades. All different and a different experience - which is why I love going. R&RC for examples is 120 at DLP, in HS it is 48". Then Space mountain in Orlando is 42" but it is 52" and not reccomended for under 10's. As is the Indiana Jones coaster. So it will be a different experience. Big Thunder Mountain is better at DLP too.0

Well, bloody hell. I feel a tad jittery as I've booked Santa Fe tonight, I got a real bargain price but I cannot see the kids listed on the booking.
It is supposed to be kids under 12 stay and play free plus 20% off as per Disney website - but lo and behold the Disney website is not working for this offer. Yesterday I had a price of £544 for 3n/4d but came to book it tonight it has now gone up to £910. WOW! I think not!!
So I have had a google and found it on Thomas Cook for £577 with entrance tickets. So I booked it - and I DEFINATELY added the kids ages but they are not showing on the booking, it just says 2 adults and that the 'base rate' charge is 2 adults - so will deal with that tomorrow or call them. However, if I try and book it again online I get a price of £832 now. I looked at staying a Saturday night and it was £280 a night. No tickets. Ouch. I have printed everything out but feel a little jittery about it.
Rather interestingly, I got the price of £577 and I clicked into Quidco and chose TC which offered 8% CB - then it went up to £832. I've tried clearing my cache (ah, forgot the cookies) but it seems you go through Quidco you do not get offered this rate. It even says 'Special Rate £192.35 per night' on the booking form.
We have decided we are going to get the Eurotunnel with our CC vouchers. Scary, we have not driven before - the kids are going to love it. We are going Sun morning 6am or 8am Eurotunnel, get there and check in at Santa Fe. Go and do parks, stay sun-mon-tues night, check out Weds but we are going to see how much for one night at Santa Fe using shareholder club discount so we can stay the night and leave for the tunnel the next morning after breakfast.0
