  • Hi

We're off to eurodisney on monday for 3 nights and cant wait!!!! :j

Going to go into Paris for the girls to see the tower and other sights, does anyone have any recommendations of things we have to do whilst there? or any ideas of great places to eat in Paris?

Any last minute tips for disney?

Also, while I'm asking (and i know its not moneysaving) will i be able to find a tobacconist in paris with ease (to stock up for xmas)?

    Thanks in advance

  • You might be lucky to move anywhere in Paris at the moment as there is a big strike on involving all trains and buses and joined today by other public service workers which include air traffic control.

The transport strike will be in it's second week tomorrow and overall it's crap here. Those rail lines that are working (the RER A to Disney is virtually non-existant) are over saturated and the roads are in gridlock between 05.00-10.00 and 16.00-20.00. It may get easier if an agreement is reached between the government and the unions over the next couple of days but I wouldn't hold your breath.

The civil servants etc. strike made the trains a bit easier today so they can carry on if they want ;)

If the strike continues into next week I'd take the coach to DLP and stay there. Go nowhere near Paris!

Tobacconists are all easily found with a big red sign outside saying Tabac. Average price is €5 a packet. It is against the law to carry more than 200 on your person but you'd be unlucky to get caught in Paris (It's mainly a law to catch French people buying cigs illegally or importing from Belgium)! You can buy cigs at the airport terminal when you leave so I'd wait until then. I'm pretty sure the French Customs won't be interested when you're leaving the country with them.

    Enjoy yourself!
  • Last minute tips for Disney. Use the fastpass system. It saves loads of time, particularly on some of the bigger rides. Some rides likes Pirates of the Caribbean have quite steep water flume style drops- be prepared. My kids favourites were this;, A small, small world, Buzz Lightyear, Peter Pan's Flight, Studio tram tour and the Haunted Mansion. Also, even though its expensive, Breakfast with the Disney Characters was worth the money just to see the kids faces when their favourite characters came to the table to see them.

Queues for the park rides usually dwindle towards park closing time and at meal times. Also when the parades are on. All of the parades and shows are worth seeing.
  • Oooops!!! Don't know where I've been but only read about the strike in the news today!!!!!

Thanks for your replies, gutted we wont be going to paris, but not much point it seems.

  • P.S Does anyone know if the eurostar is being effected? I tried to ring today but couldn't get through.

We're booked on the morning train to Disney this monday and I'm a little worried to say the least!!!
  • Lucky you being able to go now. I'd love to go at this time, but unfortunately my kids are at school.

    Your luck may be in!

The strikes have virtually finished and things are getting back to normal-ish. By Monday you should be OK so venture into Paris and enjoy.
  • Me and the oh have been for the last two years

Tip for when you go to disney if you dont want to spend much take a packed lunch with you cause it can get a bit pricey there but if not then go to the silver spur steak house at dinner time they have some good deals on i think it was 18 euros for a main and dessert and it's brilliant

Oh and the fastpass is well good use it
