its a pain trawling through to find it sometimes, and its just as popular as most of the stickies on the front page!
Now you have posted on the thread you should always be able to find it through your User CP as a suscribed thread.

when i was considering off site vs on site,(have ended up booking santa fe) one i narrowed it down was in val d europe (1 train stop away, and near shopping centre, resturants, sea life centre etc) and it had a name something like hotel lysee val de europe (its a partner hotel of disney but not owned by them and off site) http://www.hotelelysee.com/uk/accueil.php
Hey! I stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend in September and I couldn't have asked for more. It was perfect, with free transportation right outside the hotel to the parks which didn't take long. The rooms were basic but that's all we wanted. I wouldn't wanna pay over the top when all you wanna do when get back in go straight to bed (cos trust me you will lol) Although I have got to say that the bathroom was lovely, very very clean and new looking.
Hope this helps0 -

I don't now if this has been mentioned but if you book a disney hotel - or even the thomas cook one and get the chance to book a mealplan its worth it to relieve the stress of it whilst actually there. We booked a deluxe meal plan and this gave us EACH 2 vouchers per day to choose any restaurant (excluding the planet holywood/mc donalds and a few more) to eat lunch and dinner. This meant we got to eat at the Cendrilon (Cinderella's) food is fantastic and met all princesses whilst dining - its about the only place (along with the fabulous Cafe Mickey) that you get to actually have a chat with them and take plenty of photos. Also we got dinner and a show with the vouchers which was absolutely amazing (huge bisons/cattle/horses the lot) at Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show.
Another thing we did as my daughter turned 2 on our first trip is paid for a birthday cake voucher in advance and then booked her birthday cake to arrive at the end of our meal in Cafe Mickey - it was amazing - she was absolutely gobsmacked. We had Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy and a few others present her with a cake with the whole restaurant singing happy birthday to her. The characters stayed at our table with us for quite a while and happily posed for many photos with each of us. Minnie also wrote a little personal message of ''To E____, Happy Birthday, Minnie thinks you are beautiful! Lots of hugs and Kisses, Minnie x x x.'' It really was worth it and i'd do it again without a second thought. Since coming home everyone has loved the photo's - especially of that meal and are surprised to see how involved the characters were. It really is a dream come true if you plan it all in advance and then when you arrive just let it all happen.Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -

Hmm - personal opinion but i'm not really a fan of Santa Fe, it was just that after hours when the park closes and you feel ready to relax there really isn't much to do in Santa Fe. They have one small games room but its always busy. And no pool:eek: .
The second time we went we stayed in the Explorers. It didn't cost much more than Santa Fe at all but had a whole lot more comfortable feel to it. They have a bar, pool, kids soft play area, pizza place that you can order and take to your room, games room and just generally a nice feel about the place (more hotel like). I don't usually like staying at the same hotels when i go on holiday but this is one i'd deffinately go back to.Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
We are looking to go in March for a long weekend (use an inset day) with an 11 and a 14yr old. Where is the best place to stay?
They don't want the character experience so we don't think the disney hotel would suit, they aren't to bothered about western style either. We'd like to be as close as possible.
Do they count as children? I realise that if we fly my 14yr old will be an adult, but what about in hotel rooms? Are the beds big enough for a 14yr old if classed as a child for instance?
I've done loads of research and read the whole thread but just seem confused now
thanks
If you want to be within walking distance, then you really need to stay at one of the disney hotels (but not Davey Crockett)
Under 16yrs is classed as a child for room occupancy, but you have to pay for an adult park ticket from the age of 11 (unless they have an under 12s stay and play free offer on). Rooms tend to have either two double beds, or a double bed and a bunk bed - all are a suitable size for children and adults
Tbh, the Disney hotels arent disneyfied (is that a word lol) at all. They are just a standard hotel room, ie bed, tv, toilet, shower and little else. The only disney allowance at the hotels, is they have a meet and greet with the characters (so you can avoid the free for alls that occur in the parks), other than that, you wouldnt even know you were at Disney

Hi, I'm planning to go to dlp end of march when school breaks up. Had a look at Disney website but can't decide on the hotels. Would like to book before 31st to get extra 20% as I don't want to spend too much. I'm going with a 9 & 2 year old, & my dtr will turn 10 while we r there so would love cake as mentioned by my_Gorgeous_ellie. Also not sure whether to go by eurostar or air france. I would like to go for 3 days/2night, I think this will be enough for a first timer like us. I don't want the hotel to be too far. Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks0

depends on which is easiest/cheapest for you. are you nearer to an airport that flies into Paris, or would it be easier for you to get to any of the eurostar stations
tbh, the transfer times from the airports to DLRP are quite long, so if you can go via eurostar on the disney express, it makes it easier once you reach Paris. Means you get more time in the parks on your last day, as you dont have to return to the station until the last minute to get your bags and get on the train, whereas with a flight you would loose alot of time getting to the airport, and check-in. which with the short trip you are planning, will make a whole lot of difference

where abouts in the country are you? and have you looked at the flight times vs the train, for instance as i live in birmingham, when we were looking ino the train vs plane, we ended with the plane, based on the times i would take to get to london etc, plus the flights we have with fly be are good times, we get to france on our day of arrival at just after 9am and on departure day the flights are 8something in the evening, so we still have departure and arrival days as near full days, and to get to and from the cdg airport we are going on the TGV
