    Hi

We returned from Disney a couple of weeks ago and had a meal at Cafe Mickey. The food was good overall and the kids enjoyed it. The one downside was that there appeared to be only 3 cast members dressed up at any one time but they did change costumes while we were there. We prebooked but it was in the school holidays.

The kids menu was pizza, chicken strips etc. My two had pizza but the chicken strips looked the best. We had different starters, all very nice inc. garlic mushrooms and soup. Main meal was pasta with veg, fish and chips and steak and chips and the desserts we had were caramel apple and mini desserts with coffee, which were very nice.

If you are going just to meet the characters then I would say that you would meet more in the parks as there were plenty around.

There is also a Macdonalds in the Village and the food was a lot cheaper, though it was busy.

If you can, stay in the park until it closes as most people head back to their hotels and it is much easier to get on rides with only a small amount of queueing.

i believe you have to pay extra for the steak, over the price of the Character Dinner.

characters in the park do get mobbed remember

at cafe mickey, you at least get 5 mins one-to-one at your table with the characters (until some 'orrible european oik of a child comes charging across the restaurant to push in at your table, shouting Meeeckey, Meeeenie  :rotfl: )

No the steak was part of the deal but there is a more expensive option that you have to pay extra for.

We were lucky to get more than 5 minutes in total over a 2 and a half hour meal with the characters. There were only 3 and sometimes only 1 character out at any one time and, split between all of the tables, they didn't have much time and yes, there were several children who would not leave them alone. On top of this one of the characters obviously had their boyfriend at the table as they wouldn't leave each other alone!!

    you were short changed then!

we don't let them leave our table, until they have signed both kids autograph books, and had a picture taken with each or them, and then a picture with both of them together!!

gotta get our money's worth !!

    Hi

Where generally is the best place to book for on-site hotel/eurostar packages; is it direct with Disney or are there other companies that can undercut their prices?

    cheers

the characters spent a good while at each table, posing for pics and autographs and messing about / teasing the boys! lol

there was always 3 or 4 out at one time

we ate around 6pm and for a while were the only ones upstairs so had the characters all to ourselves :)

this was aug though, when the parks shut late

    Hi

They also make a fuss in Cafe Mickey if it is someone's birthday and the characters go up and hug the child and everyone sings Happy Birthday. I don't know if they will provide a cake or if you supply your own but you could get one in the hypermarket at Val D' Europe which is just up the line from Disneyland and takes about 5 minutes.

a bday cake is around 22 euros http://www.dlpfoodguide.com/specialevents2.html#birthday
