I see your point. There is an extra one of you so it bumps up the cost.

We are intending to raid the breakfast buffet this year too! I am going to pack some sandwich bags to put the stuff in.

We took squash last time and boiled water in the room to make it up (I'm not sure about drinking it from the tap even though it is said to be safe). This time we are going to take some hot chocolate and a flask too.

Gosh, yes, it will be freezing. We went the same time two years ago and this time we will definitely be taking hats. Me had DH took gloves last time but not a hat or scarf. I'm also going to take some tights to go under my trousers, in case it is extra cold.

DD has a ski suit again, as that kept her lovely and snug last time, and meant she could sit on a wall, pavement etc if she wanted, without freezing her bum!

Great though, as the park is less packed and that means less queuing and more time with the characters! :j

    I hope you have a lovely time. I can't wait, but the I'm a big kid... :D

im thinking of taking tuppware boxes with me this time, lol.

We were paranoid they would spot us taking the rolls and croissonts with us, but when you look around everyone else does it
    Waddle you do eh?

I know! That is exactly what we thought last time and tbh we didn't take stuff because of it. But yes, everyone does it and I will be this time.

And of course, if you accidentally put too much on your plate, it's wasteful to let them bin it, isn't it? :p

Haha, do you think taking the bags/containers makes us 'true' moneysavers?

Eurostar gets in at midday and doesn't leave until around 8pm on the last day so we will have an extra night's meal to find.

I'm not sure I'd bother with a three year old either though. Last time we went, dd was 5 and just had some of our food (and drink a lot of the time - non-alcoholic of course!), so it wouldn't have been worth the extra for us either. She's 7 now though so will have her £6 worth of food and drink.

We're taking about £230 spending money and the half board was £128 for us, so we think about £350 in total, for five days isn't too bad really.

Have you seen what some people spend there?

I don't think we'd go as mad as some even if we had the money though tbh. Who can justify taking £1000 spending money for a five day trip?

    Hello all

i have a quick question. I am going to DLP on Monday (cant wait, so excited). I was just wondering if the Holiday Inn has a kettle in the rooms? i know some hotels have them and some you might have to hire. would like to knjow in advance so i can pack a travel one. too cheap to hire haha.

    thanks for your help

Where are you staying at DLP as some hotels charge a deposit there?

I don't know about the Holiday Inn. Perhaps you could email them if nobody here knows?

    PS. Have a great time!

There's no way you'd make the 9.25 one but I think you'd make the 10.27 one, we also found the cost was similar between the bus and the train.

If you land at 9.05 then the first bus you could get would be 9.30 wouldn't it so you wouldn't get to disney til half ten ish without factoring in all the drop offs and pick ups so you would probably get to your hotel at about the same time whether you went by train or bus.

In the end we went for the train because we were flying back on monday morning and we were worried about rush hour traffic, with the train you know what time you'll arrive.

Did you say that you were 2 adults? (therefore able to run if time is getting on?/luggage takes ages etc)

We didn't have flexible tickets and still found we were able to change them, don't know if that makes it cheaper? In fact no one checked our tickets at all.

Sorry, I don't know whether its cheaper to book tickets in advance or not we assumed it would be and we didn't want the hassle of trying to sort them out when we got there

thanks everso much for the help, we booked the tgv tonight, got the 10.27 one booked, plus am having tickets posted so wont have to worry about the time takes to get them from the machine. got the return one as well at same time, the friday afternoon at 6.18pm, gets us to the airport early (6.30pm) as the flights not till 8.55pm, but the next train would have been cutting it fine, besides working out the bus times back this ways better.

how easy is it to get from the train to the hotel? cant wait only 6 weeks to go! plus weve booked buffalo bills for the monday night
    MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..

Assuming the TGV takes you right into DLP (same station as the Eurostar?), the buses to the hotel are right outside the station. You can't miss them; they are the same ones you use when coming to and from the park.

Yes, I've noticed a lot going then too.

Have you stayed at the Cheyenne before then? Well, you must have I guess.

How busy are the breakfasts this time of year?

I've read some horror stories on the above boards but I'm guessing it is mostly the busy times?

I don't mind it being busy, but is it really a scrum?

Have a fab time - I'm jealous at the amount of time you have there. Me and dd are jumping up and down in anticipation - can't wait to get there! :j

Although I hurt my back yesterday and I'm really hoping it recovers in time! :( It's darn painful today.

we stayed there last january and loved it! :T

it really depends on the time you go. i must admit it IS busy at all mealtimes, but we've never had a problem finding a table.

one of the reasons we tend to go in january is that it's one of their quietest times. the weekends are still manic - we tend to just wander around trying to avoid the queues on the weekends, as i HATE big crowds.

as an example, when we were there in january '08... on the weekday nights we went for dinner at the chuck wagon cafe, any time from 8pm to 10pm, and walked straight in. on the saturday night we queued from the lobby into the restaurant from 9pm and got into the restaurant at 10.15pm  so on saturday and sunday nights this year we'll probably be eating at annette's diner... or going for dinner earlier!

I don't mind it being busy, but is it really a scrum?

in the parks it *can* be a scrum at the weekends. especially if you're trying to get near a character! however, if you stick to the proper character meet n greets, the ones with proper queues, and not the ones where everyone's just crowding around, then it's not bad at all. week days there's not so much pushing etc

Have a fab time - I'm jealous at the amount of time you have there. Me and dd are jumping up and down in anticipation - can't wait to get there! :j

oooh we are too! it's SO exciting! especially knowing that this is going to be our last holiday for at least a couple of years. we're going to make the most of every single second there... although it's hard not to, as there's so much to do and it's so magical :j

Although I hurt my back yesterday and I'm really hoping it recovers in time! :( It's darn painful today.

oh dear!!! :( i really hope you're feeling better by the time you go!!! xxxx

    9 days to go!! :j

I'm taking leggings for me to wear under my clothes & leg warmers.

Got long johns for my 15 year old (I thought he'd refuse to wear them but he was made up and put them on for his paper round - under his normal pants of course!), they were only £2.50 in Primark, I think OH will probably get some too!

I would like them for my 7 year old but they don't do them that small, I suggested girls thick tights but he refused lol. He will probably wear pyjamas under his clothes.

So if you spot a family that look like they're wearing inflatable suits, that'll be us!
If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in :D
