Its hard to say really, which terminal are you flying into? the train station is at terminal 2 so if you need to travel between terminals you would need to get the monorail (we did from terminal 3) which isn't difficult but finding where you need to get it and then finding your way to the station and then picking up your tickets and finding the platform all adds time.

You need to see what time you land and what time the next TGV is at, I think we had about 75 minutes between the landing time and the time of the train, we made it with plenty of time to spare and we had to change terminals and also had a 5 yr old in tow!

If you have enough time to book your tickets in advance and have them posted to you I think I would do that as it would cut out the part where we had to find the machine that prints tickets and navigate printing them out, it wasn't too hard but if you have your tickets in hand then its just a case of getting to the station and finding the platform.

EDIT Zoe just saw your post after I wrote this, does it help? which terminal do you fly into?

thanks, looking at our expedia itinery we fly into terminal one via flybe. we land at 9.05 am according to the itinery, and managed to get onto the tgv site, they are 9.25am and 10.27am working out the costs for the return tickets we would need is £72 for the two of us, does this sound right (using the flexible ones, incase of delays etc??) i didnt realise it would be that much!

even getting a quote for the vea shuttle bus, it is coming up at 68 euros for us both and with the exchange rate, hardly any difference!

There's no way you'd make the 9.25 one but I think you'd make the 10.27 one, we also found the cost was similar between the bus and the train.

If you land at 9.05 then the first bus you could get would be 9.30 wouldn't it so you wouldn't get to disney til half ten ish without factoring in all the drop offs and pick ups so you would probably get to your hotel at about the same time whether you went by train or bus.

In the end we went for the train because we were flying back on monday morning and we were worried about rush hour traffic, with the train you know what time you'll arrive.

Did you say that you were 2 adults? (therefore able to run if time is getting on?/luggage takes ages etc)

We didn't have flexible tickets and still found we were able to change them, don't know if that makes it cheaper? In fact no one checked our tickets at all.

Sorry, I don't know whether its cheaper to book tickets in advance or not we assumed it would be and we didn't want the hassle of trying to sort them out when we got there

    Regional travel facilities (Metro/RER)
From Paris, the RER line A4 (Regional Express Railway) takes you quickly to the heart of Disneyland Resort Paris... In just 35 minutes, you can be at the gates of a fairytale land where all your dreams come true!
Just get out at the end of the line, Marne la Vall!e/Chessy station, 100 metres from the gates of Disneyland Park.

This is different from the TGV and may well be cheaper so will look into this also.

Yes it is a cheaper but it takes quite a while longer as you have to get from CDG to Paris and then change trains to get from paris to disney.

We used the RER on one of the days we stayed and it seemed simple enough but we didn't change trains so I don't know whether thats easy or not.

Thanks for your help, its been really useful, yep its 2 adults so running shouldnt be a problem, thats good about being able to change the non flexible tickets, as the flexible ones are more expensive so that will help cut cost down, thats true about the train maybe getting us there quicker, even if we have to wait around.

have you ever been to buffalo bills show? we are considering booking but is quiet expensive so wondering if it is worth it (also any idea if the more expensive seats are worth the extra £8 each? )trying to work out wether to risk getting tickets when we are there or to get them in advance

I don't think we're booking half board, we've decided that we'll eat breakfast as late as possible and take some rolls and cheese etc for lunch and then it will have to be a healthy Maccys tea every night, it won't kill us, it's only for 4 days. This should be cheaper than the £135 for HB.

We are flying from Liverpool, staying for 3 nights, having 4 days in the park.

It's going to be very cold!

Last year we stayed for 4 nights 5 days in the parks and we did that, but instead of maccies every night we had it one or two nights and had pot noodless the other and then one meal in the canitna which was ace.

May do the same this time.

    Hi Best Pud

as you are aiming to get to station to park at 8.15 - I thing you will be fine if you get in your car at 8am - the town shouldn't be too busy at that time, as no school runs yet (the reason I would be concerned is from the travel lodge to the station you have to go in to town and round the ring road) make sure when you get to the ring road (lidls and farm foods on the corners of traffic lights) you go left not right - it is slightly longer round town (as more traffic light stops), but you are less likely to miss the turning with flow of traffic.

You will need the time from parking - 1st to find a space, then negotiate getting across the car park (park on level 5 - the open level - think top level -and then you don't need to take the lift - handy when everyone is waiting for it when you come back home!) you then ghave to cross (covered) bridge to station. Get through to ticket / luggage/passport checks.
Then you will have time for toilet / drink / let the kids get their fun travel bag etc before the train arrives and everyone surges toward the platforms. If you don't have to use the lifts all the better as they can get very busy.

HTH, pM me if you can think of any other questions you want to ask, We have only been to DLP twice but with a two yr old and again with 5 year old and a 10month baby - so can tell you whats good for them, and cab give good advice about Ashford and travelling with Eurostar.

    Thanks for your help.

We been by Eurostar before, in 2007 (same time of year), but we stayed at the Premier Travel Inn and that was a very straight forward trip to the Eurostar station.

But then, the train left at 10.15, I think it was, so we had a bit longer. It's changed since the fire, I believe?

I'm glad you gave the level for the car park. I thought it was level 5, as we parked there last time, after finding the info on the internet somewhere. I have been saying to dh that I must find out the number again, but I'm sure it was 5.

Much easier coming back as there was a massive queue for the lift and we'd been an extra couple of hours on the train (bad weather delayed us) so all the children were tired and grumpy!

There is only us and dd(7) so we are fairly mobile anyway, but the other benefit of getting straight in the car was missing the queue to get out of the car park, and as we have a four hour drive home from there... :(

I will make a note of the directions and stop worrying about getting there now. I was a little concerned when I realised it may involve some traffic jams!

I see your point. There is an extra one of you so it bumps up the cost.

We are intending to raid the breakfast buffet this year too! I am going to pack some sandwich bags to put the stuff in.

We took squash last time and boiled water in the room to make it up (I'm not sure about drinking it from the tap even though it is said to be safe). This time we are going to take some hot chocolate and a flask too.

Gosh, yes, it will be freezing. We went the same time two years ago and this time we will definitely be taking hats. Me had DH took gloves last time but not a hat or scarf. I'm also going to take some tights to go under my trousers, in case it is extra cold.

DD has a ski suit again, as that kept her lovely and snug last time, and meant she could sit on a wall, pavement etc if she wanted, without freezing her bum!

Great though, as the park is less packed and that means less queuing and more time with the characters! :j

    I hope you have a lovely time. I can't wait, but then I'm a big kid... :D
  • Hello all

i have a quick question. I am going to DLP on Monday (cant wait, so excited). I was just wondering if the Holiday Inn has a kettle in the rooms? i know some hotels have them and some you might have to hire. would like to knjow in advance so i can pack a travel one. too cheap to hire haha.

    thanks for your help
  • one of the problems im having with half board is that we leave early the last day so wont be able to use them then, and we arrive really late the firest day. Also, the youngest is 3, but she hardly eats anything, so i begrudge paying for her for a full meal.
